So my godmother is a family member and she is not what my mom expected. I have always had a decent relationship with her although she has been non exsistant for about 10 years. Now when I was in poughkeepsie (she lives there) I had to track her down over my month there and she had diner with me ONCE!! She promised that she would be at my e-party next weekend and now today I get a message basically saying she is NOT coming. What is the point! UGH glad I thought she would finally be there to support me and she once again found an excuse... Thanks for listening!

I am sorry she let you down. Just think about all of the wonderful people who will be there sharing in your engagement.

Re: Fairy Godmother (Vent....)
sorry to hear that....but if she doesnt want to come then she is loosing out....
i have a similar situation. i am not having children under the age of 18 at my wedding and therefore for my e-party this June i am only inviting family members and close friends but even my family members who wont be 18 at the time of my wedding are not invited to the e-party *want them to realize that they will not be invited to the wedding early cause i know it will cause problems but its FH and my wedding so we do what we want...oh my point is that i know this might even cause crap for the eparty and some of my aunts and uncles might not come---and the best part is my grandma (<--dads mom) will call my mom and complain to her as to why none of the kids are invitied to the eparty
sorry once again and i hope it all works out for you

That stinks I'm sorry. I know how you feel, I have not even spoken to my godmother in over 5 years, and the best part is she lives 20 min. from me, and works across the street. Haven't even heard congrats on my engagement.

I have one of those too... I actually had to call my mom and ask her if I should even invite her. And it's her sister!!
Sorry you have to go through with this. It's not fun.

Re: Fairy Godmother (Vent....)
Thank you ladies. I think I was just more upset that she left me a message on my machine that she was not coming. (kind of sounds like the easy way out). I am so happy that the party is in 10 days though! Everything is coming together nicely.

Re: Fairy Godmother (Vent....)
awwww, it happens to the best of us. My dofmother wasn't a family member, but she has been non-existant for a long time. I 'adopted' my aunt to be my godmother when I was younger. My brother did the same thing because his godfather divorced out of our family and we haven't seen him in forever. I wish you could do the same, but I guess since she's still in the fam, its tough....just think of all the wonderful people that will be there!!!!!!!!

Re: Fairy Godmother (Vent....)
I think I am lucky though, my Godfather is my mom's bro, he is my 'dad' in my eyes too,, He will be the one to walk me down the aisle and do the father - daughter dance. So at least I have a super godfather!

I havent seen or have any idea where my godmother is for the past 20 years!
Thats why you have to think about choosing one. FH's godfather is the best!
