Fake Brides?!

Was just reading threw the 05 board and they said something about fake brides and not posting the vendors they are using and the catering hall because these people could call and cancel pretending to be them...scary and sick now i'm afraid

I dont think someone could just call up and be like i want to cancel the hall....the 05 thread must have had a problem with something like this in the past, i really didn't get the whole thing i just can't believe someone would do something like that

I would think if you canceled, you would have to actually go in and cancel.
In fact, I know this is a fact! B/c when my FSIL called off her wedding, she had to go to talk to every vendor in PERSOn!

If someone did call and pretend to be you they would need something in writing. I had to do that when I changed my date, let alone cancelling.
No business in their right mind would cancel something without a signature from you.

ok, here is the story. there was a fake bride from last year and she got very close to some girls on here ( i was not one of them, so i cannot speak for the girls she was close to, not will i) bascially she got close to girls and got personal info (family realated, not bank acct or anything like that) bascially she just found out a lot of girls personal info and used it to play on their sympathies. she then disappeared there was a lot of concern, b/c she had a zillion posts and people definelty missed her presence. so on the 05 and bhb boards a few 'wheres dm?' threads were started and then they kind of went away as people realized that whoever she was, she just left and that was that. so, come to find out she was posting on lif as a different bride. TOTAL PHONY!!!! fake from the word go. she had 3 different screen names and was generally lying about everything. but she seems legit and she just scammed and scammed.

no reason to be alarmed and remove all your info. but i would take your last name out of your profile, just b/c you know never know. as lauren said, no business would accept a phone call as proof of cancelling or changing a date - they all want it in writing, to cover their own azzez, mostly.

have no fear girls. just be smart about who you talk to and what you tell them. if it gets suspicious, fm ron and let him know.
