Was just reading threw the 05 board and they said something about fake brides and not posting the vendors they are using and the catering hall because these people could call and cancel pretending to be them...scary and sick now i'm afraid

Don't be afraid, altho you're right it is scary and sick!!! Just be sure to keep in close contact with all your vendors so they know you. That way if a fake bride called them, they could suspect something was up and call you.

To be honest, I am not really sure what having vendor info on your profile is going to 'give away' about yourself. Can someone please explain this to me? We are not giving out our SS#'s or DL #'s, or bank account info, we don't even post last names. What could someone possibly do with the info in our profile. I don't understand how someone could cancel your wedding using this info... They are going to call your hall and all your vendors and say hi I am so and so (first name only) and I want to cancel you? I think that this is a really far stretch.

While I don't think it's that easy for fakies to just calling up vendors and cancel them we all have to remember unfortunately there's a lot of sickos out there. That's why I try to not really post pics or give an excessive amount of info. We have to remember even though we feel like we are a small community our posts are on a public forum that millions have access to. We all know there are a lot of sickos out there...hmm hmm 05 board...better safe than sorry.

OMG, I totally didn't even think of that, but you are right. That is so sick that we have to worry about stuff like this. Half the fun is looking in people's profiles to see where they are getting married, what they are wearing, etc. ARGGGHHH! Some people just S U C K!

No, but if you are friendly with someone and FM a lot, you could give away info that you thought was safe but then wasn't.

I do think it's possible that someone can cancel your appt. just by knowing your date and time of wedding. It's really scary, just make sure you keep the communication regular with all your vendors.
I agree, this totally sux, I like looking at pics that we share with each other and I like knowing who is using what vendor and hear feedbacks. One bad apple really can ruin the whole bunch!

I have trouble trusting people as is, so I try not to give to much personal info on here either.... And I occcasionally have second thoughts about choosing my first name as my screen name on here because you never know who is on these boards.....all it takes is one psycho pathethic lonely girl who resents all brides to be because she can't find love out there....I don't know some people are just sickos, you never know what can go thru someone's mind sometimes.....
