has anyone heard of someone putting a fake date on their registry?

Not on the registry - I don't think it'd be such a great idea. I've heard of people putting fake dates here on LIW b/c of lurkers and whatnot.
When FH and I first started registering, we actually didn't have a definite date yet, but we had one in mind. So we put that on the registry. Then I changed it once we booked the church and RH.

Yes...many of my friends did. They felt that anyone can access a registry and possibly look up addresses. If your real date is on the registry, then the criminal minded will know when the house is empty. Whether its yours, your mother's or your inlaws. So they advised me to put a date when the honeymoon is over with so people will be around. Its not a bad idea...may not be necessary though. Besides, the benefit it that your registry will be active longer...allowing for discounted shopping time off of your own registry. I think when you shop your own registry you score a deeper discount? Not sure how much things have changed.

I did the same also when we didn't have a definite date, but luckily the date I kept putting turned out to be the actual date the RH had open.

Re: fake registry date?
all my friends told me to put a date a month after the wedding. because after the date on your registry most stores will send you discount coupons to purchase remaining items.

Re: fake registry date?
I would. FH does not like us to have any information easily accessible on the internet. If people know when your wedding is, they may assume that the weeks following it you will be on your honeymoon and therefore it is ok to rob your home. No ma'am. If we can avoid posting the date all together that would be ideal.

Re: fake registry date?
hm it just seems like most people would put dates after their actual wedding date-not a year before..
has anyone's registry been messed up by the store you registered at?

Is she aware she did this? Do they plan to move in beforehand and may need household items? It doesn't really make sense...this way though.

Hmmm, I never heard of that but either way my home address is not listed, it's my PO Box so I'm not too worried...
