Fake wedding ring set..........are you getting one too?????

hmmm, I never even thought of doing this. I was going to leave my e-ring at home and just wear my band, since it's not going to have diamonds. I'm going to have to start to look around.

My e-ring is not insured either.

Saw your post on the '07 board My wedding band is a simple platinum one. I wore just that and left my engagement ring at home when we went to Mexico for our HM.

Few reasons why:
1. When we got engaged, we were at a resort in DR. Within 24 hours of being engaged I scratched the hel! out of the bottom of my engagement ring on the pool floor. Didn't want to do any more damage to it.

2. I am clumsy and forgetful. Add that to an AI resort where the drinks are flowing, and I had this sick feeling my ring would slip off, or Id trip and the diamond would go flying out. Probably not likely, but wasn't worth the 'risk'.

3. I can't help but think in alot of places that a big, sparkly diamond on a woman's hand wouldn't be attractive to a mugger.. and who wants that on their HM or vacation?

Now whenever we go abroad I wear just my wedding band. If, God forbid, something happened to my E-ring, Id rather not spend 6 hours of my trip dealing with foreign police writing reports for the insurance company.

Another question: Would your FH been insulted if you got a fake set? I think mine might!

I like the idea of buying a suitcase lock or bringing a small lockbox with you.

But whatever, to each his own. I wore my rings with no problem, so did many of my friends. My mom brings all her real jewelry on vacation, there's never been a problem.

I plan on wearing both my ering and wedding band on my HM..... i am not going to live my life in fear, plus that is what insurance is for.... i have a better chance of losing my e-ring doing normal everyday stuff....

I totally agree with this and what everyone else said who is not getting a fake one. Why not get a fake bag, and fake sunglasses and everything else. yes it's scary and you can lose it but I think putting a fake ring on is not good. I wouldn't wear it at all before I wore a fake one, or would get just a plain band to wear. That's why they make insurance. Your stone could fall out while shopping or in a subway...should you wear a fake one all the time?

see i would never wear my ering or wedding band to the beach - in the ocean or in a pool because ive lost jewelry like that before - so if i wouldnt do it here - why would i do that in another country? so what i have insurance - that doesnt mean im going to put my jewelry that has sentimental value to me at risk....just because i have insurance doesnt mean im going to be irresponsible with my jewelry - i dont think getting a fake set is a bad idea - if you lose that there really is no loss - i think people like fake sets because its a symbol that you are married for everyone to see - at least thats how i feel...

I know!! I posted on your Bday Thread. I can't believe it!! I'm hitting the big 3-0 in two months.. Neal Monteko is coming to the big bash.

We still HAVE to get together and watch our lame-@ss high school videos. Just the though of you simply waving to the security guard to get out of the parking lot makes me chuckle! We were so naughty senior year.

To answer your question.. I don't think DH would be offended. He rolled his eyes when I said 'Maybe I should get a fake e-ring' because he thought it was completely unnecessary. He wouldn't care if I went ringless I don't think, and wearing the wedding band is enough really to scream to everyone 'I'm hitched, I worked out at Lucille Roberts followed by Baskin Robbins, and I went on a date with a Sysop'

OMG I literally just laughed out loud at my desk to the term 'sysop' that ppl turned around and looked at me. That is NOT a word i've even thought about in ten years. Next time you're home we HAVE to watch it, and then side swipe a car with custom paint just for old times sake.

Sysop just came to me out of no where. I had completely forgotten that I went on a date with Jack, approximately 10-15 years my senior... and you and your experience which was equally as entertaining!

I can't drive past the Sayville bowling alley without laughing.. we were so strange..

we are having a civil ceremony in april the th big to do in oct, so we have fake bands for the april ceremony - we'll wear then on our mini moon following then forget about them til oct. lol

we got 1 at target and the other at wal mart.

Hmmm???
I think this might be a great idea for someone like me who puts lotion on and takes their rings off at work

I think I would get something simple but similar to my 'real' ring.
