OMG how much does a diamond sparkle in casino lights for some reason? Every time we go I can't stop staring at my own ring. I just look like a jacka$$.

I agree with espo , if people want to get a fake set fine,its all personal choice . I don't think the OP was even asking if it was tacky, just a simple are you getting one , yes or no

Since this seems to be spin off of the OP's question, I don' t think its tacky at all , just because I( or you ) don' t think I or you are going to , doesn't mean it is tacky people .
If that is considered tacky I wonder how many of the same people who think so are guilty of wearing fake bags from canal street ( I would never) , or have fake blond hair , or fake boobs - isn't that, by theory, tacky too ? ( Im guilty of one of the three myself , just using this as an example)

For me, loosing my FH ( GODFORBID) is way more important then any piece of jewelry , sentimental or not . The only thing that cannot be replaced is him and I guess thats why I won't get another set

Msflesch-to answer your question that you just asked Lisa. I got engaged while on a cruise, so i had NO choice but to have the ring on me. I didnt want to leave it in a safe at all, i didnt trust to do that. So yes i wore it to the beach and everywhere. When we went snorkeling, we were with alot of his family, his aunt didnt go in the water so i had a bookbag and also had this mini purse inside that zips and put my ring in that and then put the mini purse in the bookbag and gave to his aunt to hold. I knew she can be trusted to watch it carefully and i told her the ring was in there so to really watch it. That is the only time i took it off. In turks and caicos i had it on while i was on the beach. I only went in the beginning part of the water and it was so low, i didnt go swimming since i cant swim lol. AND i just did what i do even now on a daily basis, i put my thumb over the center stone to always feel it and make sure its fine. I take the train everyday and same risk is involved.


but ladies, no need to let such a subject cause controversey lol. Its not a big deal at all. Let others do what makes them happy. Luckily for my HM i dont have to worry about this so not concerned but for others its a concern. Whoever wants to do it then do it and who doesnt then simply dont do it. Who cares what the other is doing

Well said. I am happy this thread came up - I didn't even think of us. I am getting a diamond eternity band and also a plain white gold band so if i am nervouos i can just wear the plain band.
Although, I would like the bling for the casinos..

I know MIMA I do the same thing...FH and I actually got engaged when we were in AC - in the hotel room before we went to MIA in Casears which is my fav resturant and then when we went in the casino i couldn't stop starring - and of course i couldn't stop starring the 5 hundred more times we have gone since then .... haha LOL

Everyone has to do what makes them comfortable. but your rings are like everything else. Do you not drive a car cause someone might hit it? You have car insurance...do you not go out in public because you might get sick? No you have health insurance. Do you run your stove, dryer, candles or anything that could cause a fire in your house? yes....I personally do wear my ring to the beach. IMO i think a fake set is tacky. I totally undrestand being uncomfortable wearing a ring but then get a plain band. Showboating a big CZ isn't the way to go IMO....

I am def. going to wear my e-ring and w-ring I can't imagine not wearing them. The only thing I was concerned about was the water and all but I am going to wear a hair tie on my ring finger, like I do now when I go to the gym, it doesn't move around at all.

if you go in the water, dont wear a necklace bc thats easier to lose.

My FMIL has brought up this point to me alot, about getting a fake set, and I'm still undecided. I don't want to get mixed into the drama in the room right now lol.. but if you travel alot it's not a bad thing to have. FH is Greek so we go there alot (has a house there), and when you're on the islands, the hotels don't always have safes and you really don't want to wear your jewelry all the time (at least I don't).

If it makes you feel more comfortable and at ease about your HM.. and it's one less thing to worry about during this crazy time in our lives.. then why not do it. To each her own!

I am a fake blond as well, have been for years I am sure someone will take what i said out of context , but it is what it is on this board . Sometimes people pick and choose certain sentences in people's posts and focus JUST on them , and not the whole statement ! This turns into a whole drama which is completely ,unnecessary since we are all here to support each other and give constructive comments, not personal attacks !

I have seen plenty of things I have not agreed with , or don't like here , and most of the time I just don't respond to the post and move on. The only time I really put my 2 cents in a 'drama' post is if I feel certain people are missing the point of the post OR are using words that might be offensive - tacky, weird, cheap , just to name a few

I missed the whole icicle thing , and I am kind of glad I did !

But Denise is 100% correct with the safe situation...We were staying at a hotel and couldnt get into the safe where we left alllllllllllll our money & cards & such....let alone they came up entered a code and opened the safe and It definatley happens at 5 start hotels. TOtally sux!

Saw your post on the '07 board My wedding band is a simple platinum one. I wore just that and left my engagement ring at home when we went to Mexico for our HM.

Few reasons why:
1. When we got engaged, we were at a resort in DR. Within 24 hours of being engaged I scratched the hel! out of the bottom of my engagement ring on the pool floor. Didn't want to do any more damage to it.

2. I am clumsy and forgetful. Add that to an AI resort where the drinks are flowing, and I had this sick feeling my ring would slip off, or Id trip and the diamond would go flying out. Probably not likely, but wasn't worth the 'risk'.

3. I can't help but think in alot of places that a big, sparkly diamond on a woman's hand wouldn't be attractive to a mugger.. and who wants that on their HM or vacation?

Now whenever we go abroad I wear just my wedding band. If, God forbid, something happened to my E-ring, Id rather not spend 6 hours of my trip dealing with foreign police writing reports for the insurance company.
