Fall Brides-what flowers are you using ¢erpiece ?

Just wondering if any Fall brides have chosen what flowers they will use for bouquets. I am going next month when I am back in NY to meet with the florist. Also, as far as centerpieces, if I am planning on haveing a centerpiece that is a hurricane glass with candle, sand, shells, does that mean I make them and then bring them to the reception? I am having flowers, but I am also doing candles with a beachy theme. Any help would be great!

We have the same wedding date! My hall provides hurricane lamps, so we`re adding grapevine wreaths to surround the lamps, and they`ll be decorated with mini pumpkins, gourds, berries, etc. For bouquets, I think we`ll have different colored roses, with satin ribbon, matching the BM dresses. I don`t want a huge, detailed bouquet. Where in East Hampton are you getting married?

You should speak with your florist about what you want to do. One of my closest friends had BEAUTIFUL beach-themed centerpieces with a hurricane candle in the middle. The hurricane holder was filled with sand and shells, plus a candle of course. Then the flowers were beach grasses, very summery flowers. It was so nice. Plus she named her tables after places that she and her husband had been together, including beaches. She gave out sun catchers as favors. She has sand dollars on the tables as napkin holders. You don't want to have the florist create centerpieces and then just put your stuff with it. The table will not look pulled-together but rather sort of a mish-mush of stuff. Her florist supplied her with the hurricane lamps, and everything she needed.

Re: Terri

Where is your wedding? What have you booked for it? I am planning from San Diego where I live, but our wedding will be at East Hampton Point.

Montauk

We`re getting married 10/5/02, and our reception will be out East, in Setauket/Stonybrook, at The Old Field Club. So far, I have done the following: book hall/church florist DJ photographer string quartet for ceremony ordered my dress decided on favors My hall doesn`t supply the cake, but I found someone - I need to actually place the order in January. I still need to: find videographer choose BM dresses choose/book honeymoon to Hawaii order tuxes book hotel rooms for ourselves and guests invites rings limos decide on restaurant for rehearsal dinner I know I`m doing well on time, but seeing all I still have left to do is beginning to make me panic! I don`t plan to do much more until after the holidays anyway, I think I need a break from planning! When you say your hall is in East Hampton Point, is that the name of the hall, or do you mean in the town of Montauk (the point)? I would have loved to book something in Montauk, but most of my family is from Western Nassau, so it would have been too far.

We used fall color roses...

there were black magic, yellow, an orangey color, and a few others. There were six different rose types we used, and they looked great. For other arrangements, we had them mix sunflowers with the same color roses used in the centerpieces along with some filler, and these were stunning!

I would love to see your flowers if you have any pictures! We want to use Sunflowers, too and I would love to see how it looked with the roses. Thanks!

What we did

We used pots of fall mums everywhere. They were beautiful and everyone took them home. Because we used them both inside and out there were enough for every guest or couple to take a pot home. The 2 pots that we took lasted until just last weekend. That is over 2 months since our wedding day! The pots were wrapped and tied and not only looked beautiful but because they weren't expensive we were able to get a lot.
