This is another vote, HUGE vote, for Belmont Lake State Park. You will have so many options there ... many people forget about the mansion on the west side of the lake, by the Parks Dept. office. And it's very easy to get to, just take Southern State to exit 39N, and use the Parks Dept. parking lot. Also, the permit couldn't be easier to get, and it's free!

I spoke with my photographer last week, and he thanked us for showing him the place for our wedding last year, saying how he's gone back and used it since.

Gardiner Park on Montauk Highway is a very rustic park. I believe the area is considered Bay Shore. However, you don't have the options here as you do at Belmont Lake.

Be careful when you check places you're considering for outdoor photographs. You want to make sure they provide a complete backdrop of beauty. This has always been my gripe against Argyle Park in Babylon on Main Street. While having a lake is always nice, and the waterfall there is dramatic, the sitelines above ground level are not very photogenic. It seemed in the spring they gave the brick on the waterfalls a new coat of white paint, but you still had powerlines, the LIRR and houses the photographer would have to contend with for backgrounds since there aren't many trees there.
