My mom's brother (my very close uncle)- is in the middle of filing for divorce. I said to my mom and grandma that this marriage was a bad idea from the start (a few years back). Now they are getting a divorce.
My mom thinks I should call and see how my uncle is doing and lend some support, but I have no idea what to say. I would NEVER say 'i told you so', that is not the issue. But I dont want to get in the mix of someone elses divorce-
Is it wrong that I dont want to get those 'bad vibes'
____________________________________ UPDATE
So I did call my uncle and he didnt answer his cell phone, so I didnt leave a message- I ran into him on saturday and told him I missed him etc... but we both were running out the door, so that was that YESTERDAY he was moving into an apartment and he needed somethings to get him by. Well he asked me about my furniture and where I got it. I offered to go to Ikea with him, and was able to supply him with somethings that we have not used and receieved from the engagement party. Pots and pans Coffee Maker Towels and some other things, I feel so much better!!!! I helped!!

i don't see anything wrong in calling him... maybe he won't even bring it up.. i'm sure everyone is talking to him about his divorce and you'll give him the breather that he's looking for.. talk about everything else and if he brings it up, then just listen.. jmo

May send him a card if you feel uncomfortable calling him. Let him know you are there for him at this difficult time.

I say give him a call. He's your uncle and will always send you good vibes. His divorce is just what he's going through now. Plus he may just want to chat...not even about his divorce but just chat in general.

Yeah i would call just to say hi and to cheer him up. But maybe not mention the divorce unless he does. I would feel uncomfortable calling too, so maybe give it a little more time.

Agreed! You'll feel so much better after the phone call and it would be a really sweet thing to do. Just keep it light, 'hey I was just doing some running around and figured i'd call see how you're doing.....blah blah.'

Re: Family divorce and 'my' wedding
It is not that I am purposly avoiding him, but i am affraid that he might not feel comfort from me, being that I am happy, in love and about to be married.
I guess it is awkward situation. I think I will call him and not bring it up, just say hi and that i was thinking of him,

I can understand that- but sometimes it really picks you up to see people that you love happy- so I dont think that your happiness will make him unhappy. And of course, when you are going through something, its always nice to know that your family/friends are there to support you.

There's nothing wrong with calling him to see how he is doing. He probably needs moral support. It has nothing to do with 'I told you so.' Just see if he needs someone to talk to

I would just call and say I wanted to check on you and see how you're doing. If he starts talking about it great but if he doesnt I would leave it alone.
