Family events...

Family events...

I asked FMIL for a list of all anniversarys, birthdays and other important events in FH's family. I have also taken over all the shopping and card sending for all that stuff. I was telling a friend of mine about it ( they were just married in April) and she said there is no way in hell she was doing it and was still making her DH responsible for his side of the family....

Will you take over or make FH responsible for his family?

Believe it or not, FH has like NO family. Seriously. I only need to know his brother's, Mom and Dad's b'days.

I send Christmas cards to his friends, etc. I took over a long time ago. Ha ha!

i know all of his family events already.. and we usually go out together to get the cards and stuff.

things will probably just continue in that way.

We do everything for both of our families together, already...so it'll just stay like that!

Once we were together a little while I learned all the dates and although he remebers them I usually make sure gifts and cards are bought on time...so I guess I already took that role

I just thought it was strange that she was like there is no way i will be responsible for his family...

FH is actually pretty good about remembering, its just usually the day before

FH has 9 siblings. Some of them are married, with kids. It's a big list of birthdays! We try to tackle it together, but so far he remembers his family and gets the cards, etc and I take care of mine.

Cards I have been doing for the past year or so... For holidays/bdays gifts I usually pick up after discussing with FH. I like for us to do it together- but I don't mind if I'm out (and have coupons- lol) to coordinate.

I am already on top of all the present buying and things like that...His sister usually sends me an invite also...just so I know (FH has the worst memory)

i have been doing this since we were 16! LOL

i buy the card and send it out then call FH on the day to remind him of the birthday

i purchase all the gifts and cards for any party

For christmas i purchase everything and then at the end i add it all up and divide it in two and he gives me cash (( now that we are getting married and our money is combined i probably wont do this anymore ))

FH has already told me (half jokingly!) that I will be in charge of all that fun stuff. He doesn't do any of it now, well he does for his mom, dad and sister, so why would he do it later!

I'm going to try my best to get him involved though!

i'm the bad one here. I never remember anyone's birthday, anniv, etc. (including my own). FH is better with that than I am. Plus my sister knows when anyone in our family's birthday rolls around to call and give me a heads up.

It's not that I don't care, its just that I usually don't know what date it is.... I'm in my own world sometimes

Same here too!! We have been together 6 years, so we basically have a system already!
