Family events...

Original post by DNS91308

I asked FMIL for a list of all anniversarys, birthdays and other important events in FH's family. I have also taken over all the shopping and card sending for all that stuff. I was telling a friend of mine about it ( they were just married in April) and she said there is no way in hell she was doing it and was still making her DH responsible for his side of the family....

Will you take over or make FH responsible for his family?

FH is pretty good about remembering when his families bdays are so it's just on the calendar. I do all the organizing though when it comes to our plans.

i do most of it now I casually took over mailing out the cards becuase fh is bad with dates (that is all I need for my in-laws to think I neglected to send them out cards/ gifts meanwhile it would be fh who forgot)

gifts we normally purchase together for everyone

Dana, I think it's really sweet that you are taking on these things. I've always thought it the wife's part in the home to help with these family events, just as you are doing. I know I do it in our home, and I've never thought about it being different for other married couples. I'll be interested in reading how it works in other families. Mary MOB

if i didn't take over, it wouldn't get done!

Ditto. I think I took it over the first holiday season we were together a few years ago and then it was all downhill from there. a year into our relationship it was like Fh forgot when his mom's bday was all of a sudden so all the bdays and anniversary's and holidays went on my calendar.
