Family matters

For those with a couple set of parents and step parents how are you handling the aisle walk or the father/daughter dance?
I am very close with my step dad who raised me so I think I might have both him and my dad walk me down...is that too much...also what about the dance..is two dances too much? Should I skip the father daughter and dance wiht my mom instead?
Help!

I've seen brides escorted by their father, and then halfway down the aisle, the step father steps in and walks the rest of the way, or vice versa. That might work for you..?

I think you should do what you feel is right in your heart. It is your wedding. There is no right or wrong when it comes to these things... I think two dances is fine...and the walking in...why not both...I don't see anything wrong with that

My sister had both my father and step dad walk her down, then danced with my mom. I also had a friend who did the same but danced with bothe dads. Its your day do what YOU want. I am having my mothe give me away as well as dancing with her. Its up to what you feel is right. Good luck

Thanks for all your suggestions...you are right..I am going to do what I think is best and not listen to what other people think is right! Thanks for putting it in perspective a little!

If you want to be very poltically correct and not upset anyone then ask both of your Dad to walk you down the aisle, and do a split dance with your dads- 1/2 way thru the song switch. And you can still dance with your Mom if you want to.
If you really feel that your stepfather should walk you down the aisle- then ask him to do that and then dance with your Dad You can also do that.

I'm in the same boat - I had a really hard time figuring out how to include everyone -
I am having my dad walk me down the aisle (he feels very strongly about it) and I am dancing with both my dad and stepdad (different songs - they each got to pick a song they wanted to dance to with me). My stepdad and stepmom are also doing the readings during the ceremony.

my fiance has the same issue to work out. we're not sure how he should walk down the aisle or do the mother/son dance. Both of his parents are remarried. I think he might start walking down the aisle accompanied by one set of parents and then the other set will walk him the rest of the way. does this sound confusing? how will it look?

for the mother/son dance he'll probably dance with each mom to the same song. I guess his stepmom will cut in during the middle of the song? is that how it normally works?

Also, for those of you with more than 2 sets of parents...how did you word the invitation?

My invites were worded with our names at the top and then 'Together with their families'. I thought putting everyone's names on the invitation would be too much - Plus we are paying for most of the wedding ourselves.
