Family members just keep crawling out of the woodworks!

HI Gals,

Well we just sent out our invites this week. we went over the guest lists with our moms several times to make sure we had included everyone.
NOW cousins that no one has seen or heard from in years are crawling out of the wood works because word got to them of our wedding and they want to know where their invites are!!!
we talked it over with our moms and the grandmothers too to get their opinions. the decision reached was to invite them without guests- because none of them are involved. I understand that they are family but they havn't been around in years! It also means that i have to cut out some of my friends so these cousins can come. Now i'll be looking for the 'no' rsvp's.

I have to say though I don't think I would cut my own friends who I genuinely want at my wedding to make room for people I would feel I 'HAD' to invite, just to appease others. At the end of the day its YOUR and UR FH's wedding and you should have people there who you are really close to and want there. Sorry its JMO no one get mad....I just think its a SUPER tough situation just hope they all say NO so that ur friends can be there on your special day.

ITA.In some ways my friends are more like family to me. They are there for me more than my extended family is, so I would not cut them out for family I haven't seen in years. JMO

I wouldn't invite them either.

If you have to cut friends that you are in contact with in order to be able to invite distant cousins who you haven't spoken to or heard from in years... then I WOULD NOT DO IT!! You want those who are closest to you to be around for that day. Not people that really you have no relationship with other than to say we that's a cousin, blah blah but I know nothing about them.

I would choose the friends over those cousins anytime!

And I wouldn't feel that bad over it either... it's not like you are going to see them anytime soon!

And you are certainly right to not invite them with a guest!

I feel like... the people who have somethign to say are those who have never had a wedding... so they don't know what it's like.... but hopefully they will learn. And I hope they all feel dumb when they do learn!
