Farmers alamanac- Bad Winter

Okay-so now I am going to vomit. A friend just e-mailed me the Farmer Almanac's prediction for winter. BAD BAD BAD. Snow beginning in February (I am getting married February 15) will COver the Northeast it says. This is just too much! I AM READY TO CALL IT ALL OFF AND JUST ELOPE.

The farmers alamanc said that we were only gonna have 7 sunny days this summer. If u remember it was really crappy and rainy in the begining of the summer but its not bad now. Don't be to sad and worried!

I think if you wound up with a white wedding that would be so beautiful. Think of the positive things. Snow isn't as bad as rain and that is what I am worried about b/c it rained on june 4th of this year. How far does this almanac go, is there a way of finding out about a specific date in june??

I don't believe a word it says! It's going to be a gorgeous winter! We never have 2 bad winters in a row......(right?)

Honestly...this is the one thing that when you booked your wedding, you knew for a fact that you had no control over. You still have no control over it. You have to stop worrying about the weather months from now because the predictions mean SQUAT. They called sunny and clear for my wedding day until literally 48 hours before, then they said rainy at 'times'. Then it poured uncontrollably (monsoon like mostly) the whole ****ed night. And you know what? It didn't mean a thing!!!!

The only thing you have control over is your options. Make a plan for what you will do in case it snows. Make arrangements through your limo company, find out what they do in case of snow. Get information for your guests who are coming from long distances. If there are things you are planning that snow may interfere with, make a backup plan. That is ALL YOU HAVE CONTROL OVER.

All these posts worrying about weather 6=7=8 months from now is just silly, NO ONE knows, included the weathermen (obviously they have SUCKED all summer!). Forget it....think about other things, and don't let it get to you!!

I think a white wedding would be really cute.

Weather is what it is... but I feel for your tension.

Im planning for a mid autumn wedding.. the thought of a cold blistering winds or cold raining weather is not cheerful.. but then again.. I have two fireplaces in the hall.. and think it would be lovely to snuggle with FH by the fire with our first piece of cake!

Im a romantic at heart

I'm freaking out over the possibility of roads closed, airports closed, and no one being able to come. That's what it was like last year on the exact day. I don't know why it's all hitting me now, but it is.

Or, it could be 50 degrees, sunny, crisp, and clear!

Your talking about last year's freak president's day storm.. I remember that, I went to the city for a dentist appt regardless of the storm.

Think positively.

A) that was a freak storm.. they can happen anytime, worrying about them does you no good.
B) most out of town guests arrive days prior to the wedding so hopefully won't be in flight and they should know NY weather in winter and plan accordingly.
C) Your worries are based off one almanac, for every bad news theres someone else saying it's going to be the opposite.

Take it easy.. it will all be alright.
If you're really worried.. think about who has SUV's that can do pick runs to and from the wedding.

I think it will all turn out alright!

PS: Buy wedding Insurance

My Best Friend got married December 6, 1997 and she had a beautiful Christmas theme complete with our bouquets being white fur muffs with flowers all over them....Well, it was sunny and in the low 70's we didn't need a sweater or anything, in fact we have a pic of us with sunglasses on! Another friend got married in March 2001 and we had a snow storm! So you never know. Just relax and watch the five-day forecast right before your wedding and take it as it comes. This should be an exciting and fun time, not stressful!!!

Oh, common! A crisp snowy day for a wedding! Who wouldn't want that? I love snow! it's beautiful! I think it only enhances the whole wedding experience!

actually, when we went to see the halls for our wedding and visited Fox Hollow, the MD told us this story; one bride really wanted a winter wonderland wedding. Planned on her day in february and figured the nature will take care of the rest! NOPE! there was absolutelly no snow what so every on that day! So, they hired a snow blowing machine the morning of and got their Winter Wonderland wedding after all!

So, see, snow is good! People are willing to even pay money for it!

Oh, and BTW 2 weeks before my wedding the forcast was snow and rain, low to mid 50's! well, it was SUnny, beautiful 65 degrees, no snow no rain, lots of sunshine! so, don't even pay attantion to anything till about february 12th! I bet it will be a calm, beautiful, sparkly white snow on trees kinda day!

You can't worry about the weather. It is one of the only things we cannot control prior to the wedding. We all choose what time of year we have our weddings - in the winter you worry about snow, in the spring it's rain, in the summer it's opressive heat & humidity, the fall is a combo.

All you can do is plan and be prepared with contingency plans in case of things go really wrong. Talk to your vendors about how they handle these things. And insurance is something to seriously look into.

Like others have said, the weather is out of your control - try not to let it ruin all your planning and the reason behind having a wedding...your ceremony. Stay positive and remember that the Farmer's Almanac is only 80% correct.

I have been freaking since the day I booked. HOWEVER, I did add to my contract that if the wather is disaterous, they will give me back my deposits.....vidoe/dj/hall/photo/limos....Let's pray I won't have to use that clause!

My cousin got married at Majestic Gardens on Dec 30, 2000 and there was a blizzard! Only 40 people didnt show, but that was because they were coming from NJ, but her limos and vendors showed up as planned, on time and the wedding was perfect. Dont worry about the snow, it wont ruin your wedding. Her pictures came out amazing, really beautiful.
