Farmingdale...

OK... so FH and I saw a house today that we loved... it's in Farmingdale. I don't know too much about the neighborhood or schools...

Is anyone familiar with the area? It seems to be inside the triangle formed by Carmen's Road, Main Street and Rt 109.

The lower schools are awesome... the middle/high schools aren't so great.

I live not too far from there! I live in North Massapequa, but it's in the Farmingdale school district. It depends on where exactly the house is. If it's by Main street, it's still pretty nice over there. But the closer you get to Rt. 110, the worse (more industrial) it gets.

As for school district, Farmingdale is still a pretty good SD. Not quite as good as Massapequa or Plainedge, but still much better than say Amityville or Copiague.

It's not a bad SD but Northside and Albany Avenue are definitely the two better elementary schools. Depending on what side of that triangle you are on, your kids would go to either Woodward Parkway or Albany Avenue. I never went to the middle school but the high school is okay. I'd say it's kind of in the middle as far as school districts. The budget always passes, great arts programs but I can't say much else.

i grew up in farmingdale, i lived by 109 and fulton street. I absolutely loved living there (and miss it very much). I know when i went to school there, the schools were great.....but i don't know how they are now (i graduated 2001). I have a friend that lives over where you are talking about......it gets a little shady by the train station.....if you have any questions you can fm me

I live in Farmingdale, off Melville Rd, and it's really not bad. Like the other girls said there are some not so nice parts (but you'll get that with almost any town) but I feel like for the most part Farmingdale isn't bad. I also went to FHS and never had a problem. They have a lot of sports, music and after school programs and clubs. I thought it was a great school (coming from Catholic school they had a lot more to offer). That area you're talking about isn't bad though, the woman I used to babysit for lived over there and she had 3 small children. If you want any info, you can FM me

FH lives in Farmingdale.
Pretty good school district.
His daughters went to elementary school in N. Massa and it was a pretty good school but the kids are a little too ahead of themselves (11 year olds kissing already oy).
They start in a middle school this year that is excellent. FH's brother n laws' sisters' kids go there (in Farmingdale).

I like Farmingdale a lot and would move there. FH wants to move with me to Queens though.
