When wearing brown/tan plaid pants & tan shoes.. what color socks do you wear??

should they match your pants or shoes??

Can you actually see your socks? What kind of shoes are they?

If your foot is visible I would wear no socks. If not I would wear a brown argyle of some sort or a fun sock.


PS - I am no where near Mrs. Fashion Plate of America. In fact, I think I am the world's #1 candidate for 'What Not to Wear'.

just in general I guess.. If you wear shoes & dress socks (and can see the socks when you sit down) do you match to your pants or shoes?

I was using my coworkers get-up for an example today.. we were discussing it and I didn't have an answer

In a former life, I worked for Esquire Magazine's website! It might be men's fashion, but they have an answer for this one

BY THE BOOK
The utterly correct sock is one that is barely noticeable beneath the hem of your pants. (The pant legs here have been raised to show the socks.) The color should match your trousers to visually lengthen your legs.

ALTERNATIVE
Use your ankles as a place to add some color. Note that this works only if you maintain strict sobriety everywhere else in the outfit: plain black or very dark brown shoes and little or no pattern anywhere else.

Socks should match the pants unless you plan on moonwalking your way into my heart.

Me too, hence the 'fun sock' comment I made above.

I have a pair of socks with a brown monkey on them. Those are probably the ones that I would wear with that pant/shoe color combo.
