father daught dance?

Re: father daught dance?

I'm so sorry to see that there are so many of us in this situation, but it is nice that we have a little support group here. I never really revealed too much personal information here, but I think its comforting to each of us to know that someone else is going through the same thing, so I am glad I spoke up.

It's actually helps for me to see all the women on here that have had similiar situations.

My dad passed away three years ago for Lymphona-Hodkins (blood cancer) and I have been weepy about the whole father of the bride thing since we got engaged. My mom is walking me down and recently she agreed to dance with me (because I didn't want to feel cheated out of that moment).

So far I like the song Blessed-by Elton John. As we enter the ceremony I am going to have a memory candle placed so that me and my mother can light before we walk down. I also plan to have a locket with his picture in my bouquet. The Pastor is also going to mention him briefly in the beginning. Nothing too sad but just little ways to honor him. good luck...FM if you need anything.

It really does help. Until I joined this site, I felt like no one understood what I was feeling. The only person who I ever talked to about stuff was my FH bc he lost his father very sudden too and sort of understands what I'm going through. His dad was a police officer who was killed in the line of duty and my dad died in a car accident coming home from vacation. We both are going through a lot but in such different ways. It's the bride who dreams their entire life of having their dad walk them down the aisle and dancing the father/daughter dance... It's really so hard but it's so nice to have you guys to talk to.

Oh and I'm having the locket in my Bouquet too and having the photo montage/slideshow. We are also putting pics of family/friends on the front piano where everyone walks in.

'I'll Remember' by Madonna is a nice song that can honor your father's memory while also being applicable to your mother

I don't have any other advice on this matter, but I do want to extend my deepest sympathies and best wishes!

When my friend got married, she had her mom walk her down the aisle but put a small picture of her father in her bouquet so it was like he was with her down the aisle also.

I am so sorry for all of your losses My dad passed away almost 6 years ago (wow it goes fast). My brothers will be walking me down the aisle and I will be dancing with them for the father/daughter dance song. It took me a long time but I chose There You'll be by Faith Hill. When I heard it and read the lyrics I started crying and it was perfect for my situation. I am going to have a table with a picture of me and my dad and a poem I wrote for him with a candle. I am also going to have a boequet charm with his picture on it. Here are the lyrics of the song. I hope you find the perfect song for you.

When I think back on these times and the dreams we left behind
Ill be glad cause I was blessed to get to have you in my life
When I look back on these days Ill look and see your face

You were right there for me
In my dreams Ill always see you soar above the sky
In my heart therell always be a place for you for all my life
Ill keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there youll be
And everywhere I am there youll be

Well you showed me how it feels to feel the sky within my reach
And I always will remember all the strength you gave tome
Your love made me make it through ooh I owe so much to you

You were right there for me
In my dreams Ill always see you soar above the sky
In my heart therell always be a place for you for all my life
Ill keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there youll be

Cause I always saw in you my light my strength
And I want to thank you now for all the ways
You were right there for me
(you were right there for me)
You were right there for me
Oohh

In my dreams Ill always see you soar above the sky
In my heart therell always be a place for you for all my life
Ill keep a part of you with me
And everywhere I am there youll be
And everywhere I am there youll be
There youll be

I really like that song by Faith Hill.... I am so glad that I broke down and decided to sign up and send a message out. The feedback has been amazing! I am also going to look into the You and Me against the world song... thank you so very much

Yes, my father passed away suddenly a few years ago... I will be walking down the isle with my grandparents (both of them) and not doing a father/ daughter dance (it's a personal decision- I grew up with my dad and don't want to replace that). I'll have a BOK charm & I'm going to say something in place of the dance at the RH. Please feel free to FM me if you want to talk further....

That is a beautiful song, thank you for posting the lyrics. I love the idea of a bouquet charm -- I never saw one before.

Meshell, thank you for putting out this post, and opening this line of communication. I feel comforted by all of you. Thank all of you ladies for being brave and sharing such personal details. It is nice to be able to communicate with people who know what you are going through, and who are going through the same thing.

Before August, I never had any idea what anyone in this situation is going through. As much as people want to help and are there for you, if they haven't lived through it, they just don't understand. Experiencing the loss at the time when you are planning what is one of the happiest events of your life is such a unique situation, and i just wanted to thank all of you for sharing. Anyone of you please feel free to FM me (or not) if you need or want to talk.
