I want to use Otis Redding singing 'Stand by Me.' I'm sure most of you know this song, but I will post the lyrics anyway. My question is, do you think this song is okay for a father/daughter--type meaning? My Dad and I both have a mutual love for Otis Redding, but most of his songs are about man/woman relationships... So I just want to make sure it is father/daughter appropriate. What do you all think?

I think its perfectly appropriate - he may have written it for a man/woman relationship but they fit for a father/daughter.

Robyn... I think it is a good choice. The lyrics are appropriate and the song is wonderful. I would say to go for it.

its definitely ok, its one of the songs i wanted to pick...but isnt it by Benny E king (from the drifters)...i think otis redding does a version...so which version are you using?

Totally appropriate! I love that song, if I were dancing with my brother I'd pick that song bc it reminds me of us watching Stand By Me when we were little.

The Otis Redding version because my dad loves him, and then he got me into listening to him.
