I'm still not sure and was wondering what you all are using. I keep swaying between sappy 'Because you loved me' and fun 'My Girl' or inbetween 'In My Life'. AHHHH Help!!! Thank you!!!

My dad and I are dancing to 'You Lite Up My Life' - Debbie Boone because I used to sing it when I was little.

Bride2B93, they are all nice. But my dad didn't want anything too mushy. So I'm using: You'll Be In My Heart - Phil Collins

I love that song!! I was thinking about that one too, there are so many good choices. It is hard because just like May2004, my dad doesn't really want anything mushy....

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
Here are the words to Goodnight (which is actually called (Lullabye (Goodnight, My Angel))
Goodnight, my angel Time to close your eyes And save these questions for another day I think I know what you've been asking me I think you know what I've been trying to say I promised I would never leave you And you should always know Wherever you may go No matter where you are I never will be far away
Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to sleep And still so many things I want to say Remember all the songs you sang for me When we went sailing on an emerald bay And like a boat out on the ocean I'm rocking you to sleep The water's dark And deep inside this ancient heart You'll always be a part of me
Goodnight, my angel Now it's time to dream And dream how wonderful your life will be Someday your child may cry And if you sing this lullabye Then in your heart There will always be a part of me
Someday we'll all be gone But lullabyes go on and on... They never die That's how you And I Will be

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
I was thinking about using 'Daddy's Home' b/c it has some sentimental value to it (my dad was in the Navy and while he was gone for 6 months on Westpac, he sent us a tape with the song on it). But the lyrics are written more like between a romantic couple. Another option, since we both really like Paul Simon, would be his song 'Father and Daughter.' It's cute and and not too mushy - it's a little upbeat. The words really apply to us too. Here they are:
Father and Daughter
If you leap awake in the mirror of a bad dream And for a fraction of a second you can't remember where you are Just open your window and follow your memory upstream To the meadow in the mountain where we counted every falling star
I believe a light that shines on you will shine on you forever And though I can’t guarantee there’s nothing scary hiding under your bed I'm gonna stand guard like a postcard of a Golden Retriever And never leave ‘til I leave you with a sweet dream in your bed
I'm gonna watch you shine Gonna watch you grow Gonna paint a sign So you'll always know As long as one and one is two There could never be a father Who loved his daughter more than I love you
Trust your intuition It’s just like goin’ fishin’ You cast your line and hope you get a bite But you don’t need to waste your time Worryin’ about the market place Try to help the human race Struggling to survive its harshest night
I'm gonna watch you shine Gonna watch you grow Gonna paint a sign So you'll always know As long as one and one is two There could never be a father Who loved his daughter more than I love you

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
I like 'If it wasn't for your love' by Heather Headley.
Would I be standing here After all these years Among the stars above Maybe not If it wasn't for your love
Smiling faces all around Like when a king that has just been crowned A battle has been won That I'd have lost If it wasn't for your love
A fairytale unfolds More true than stories I've been told At last my chance to shine And all in perfect time The life I once dreamed of Who'd have thought If it wasn't for your love
And oh the wonderful surprise To have a light so bright it blinds It blinds my eyes And finally I see How it feels to live a dream But would I have touched the sky Ever flown so high Oooh not I If it wasn't for your love

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
I was thinking about The Beach Boys 'God Only Knows'. My dad loves the Beach Boys and it is not too mushy, but I don't know.
I may not always love you But long as there are stars above you You never need to doubt it I'll make you so sure about it
God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me Though life would still go on believe me The world could show nothing to me So what good would living do me
God only knows what I'd be without you
God only knows what I'd be without you
If you should ever leave me Well life would still go on believe me The world could show nothing to me So what good would living do me
God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows what I'd be without you God only knows God only knows what I'd be without you

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
I told my dad we were dancing to Faith Hill's 'There You'll Be'. When I played it for him, he started to clean up around the living room, which means it's the song, because he doesn't clean.
When I think back On these times And the dreams We left behind I'll be glad 'cause I was blessed to get To have you in my life When I look back On these days I'll look and see your face You were right there for me
[Chorus:] In my dreams I'll always see your soar Above the sky In my heart There will always be a place For you for all my life I'll keep a part Of you with me And everywhere I am There you'll be
Well you showed me How it feels To feel the sky Within my reach And I always Will remember all The strength you Gave to me Your love made me Make it through Oh, I owe so much to you You were right there for me
[Repeat chorus]
'Cause I always saw in you My light, my strength And I want to thank you Now for all the ways You were right there for me You were right there for me For always
[Repeat chorus]

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
We used Daddy's Little Girl because I felt it was a song my dad had been waiting to dance to for a long time but I've always loved Isnt' She Lovely by Stevie Wonder
Isn’t she lovely Isn’t she wonderfull Isn’t she precious Less than one minute old I never thought through love we’d be Making one as lovely as she But isn’t she lovely made from love
Isn’t she pretty Truly the angel’s best Boy, I’m so happy We have been heaven blessed I can’t believe what God has done Through us he’s given life to one But isn’t she lovely made from love
Isn’t she lovely Life and love are the same Life is aisha The meaning of her name Londie, it could have not been done Without you who conceived the one That’s so very lovely made from love

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
I will be doing the Father/Daughter Dance with my Uncle, and I am using 'Because You Loved Me' By Celion Dion. Every word of that song just fit the relationship I have with him and my Aunt.

Re: Father/Daughter song?!?!
Erin.....I was caught between the same two songs!!! I wanted 'Because You loved me' because it truly is how I feel about my dad and when he heard it he cried....he wanted 'My Girl' because it was more upbeat and he dances well....SOOOO....I had the DJ do a chorus verse of Because...and had that blend into My Girl (all without my dad knowing about it)....I lost all compsure while dancing with my dad and I'm sure you remember my dad (NOT the 'show your emotions' type)
