Father/Duaghter songs? Please do not say 'Because You Loved Me'
Original post by ThongLori
hey girls,
I am not a big fan of Celine (my father is though) so I am trying to find alternatives to her and persuade him away from Celine!
So far I've got:
The Way You Look Tonight - Frankie Baby Isnt She Lovely - Stevie Wonder If I Could - Ray Charles In My Life - Beatles
TIA!!

Re: Father/Duaghter songs? Please do not say 'Because You Loved Me'
My dad wanted 'My Girl' (The Temptations?' because it was upbeat and happy...he didn't want to cry.
I wanted Because you loved me (I hate Celine) but the lyrics were exactly how I felt....
so we did the chorus verse and that blended into My Girl
DH and I had a song called Have a Little Faith for our first dance, but when we went to go see the artist in concert, someone was saying how they used that song for their father-daughter
It's by John Hiatt but has been covered by others like Jewel.

My dad is untraditional, and we were honestly considering the Green Day song, I Hope You had the Time of Your Life.
We wound up on In My Life by the Beatles though.

I have two in mind in particular...
1. 'Daddy's Home' because it has personal meaning (my dad was in the Navy and the Navy band would always play it at the pier when they got back from 6 months at sea), but the words aren't really fitting for a father/daughter relationship
2. 'Father and Daughter' by Paul Simon because we both love him, the words are perfect, and it's upbeat.
I'm hoping to go with #2, but I think I'll let him choose. ;o)

My father and I are dancing to Lullabye by Billy Joel.
That is what we used. The other choice was 'God Only Knows' by the Beach Boys.
