i'm moving to nyc in a week and i hate to cook so i want to know some good places to go out. all ranges of cuisines and prices are welcomed. so.... what's your favorite restaurant in nyc? what type of cuisine? is it expensive? and lastly where is it?

I have not eatten to much in the city to know where things are..but some fun places I've been too, to look up... Jekyle and Hydes Mc Sourlees (sp?) Jackson's Hole Radio Mexico (downtown) Sequoia (sp) (South Street Seaport) La Cite ESPN Zone Cowgirl Hall of Fame (village)

One of my favorite places is a restaurant called Angels. Its located on 1st Ave. between 61st & 62nd (or 63rd). Its a small restaurant with GREAT Italian food at average prices. They have a huge menu/selection. I always recommend this place and have never heard anyone say they've had a bad meal there.

What kind of food do you like? Here are my favs... Sushi Samba, City Crab, Angelo and Maxies, Houstons is always a good stable, Blue Water Grill, Chat N Chew is fun- great mac and cheese,
Let me think of some others and get back to you. Give me an idea of the type of food you like.

jenny - I think you might be talking about Mexican Radio in Soho? I love that place! Very reasonable $$!
I also love Little Havana (Cuban) on Cornelia St. in the village. One the same street is Cornelia St. Cafe...also awesome!
Love Dos Camino's (Mexican) in Soho (I think there is one in mid-town too)
Love Del Friscos for Steak (mid-town in the 50's)
I know I have a million more in my head....as I think of them I will post them.
Edited to Add - CORNER BISTRO in the village for the best cheap burgers served with fries on paper plates.....YUM!!!!!
There is also this place called 'Pommes Frites' (translated - French Fries) that serves huge cones of AWESOME fries with about 100 different dipping sauces for them.....It's on 2nd Ave and Astor? I think! mmmmmm, my mouth is watering!
Aren't they great Kim? I used to think JG Melon's had great burgers...but nope - corner bistro!! YUMMMM!!!!
OR another great find for burgers is the Burger Joint....it's a tiny hole in the wall hidden in the Parker Meridien Hotel that you would never think exists in a nice hotel like that. They only serve burgers and fries...that's it! and they are AMAZING!!!! that's on 57th St., btwn 6th & 7th....I used to work down the street and we went there all the time.....

In that neighborhood, most of the good restaurants are near 2nd: You'll probably be a regular at Blockheads-- really really good and cheap Mexican. I LOVE IT! 2nd & 49th, i think Also Divine Bar- tapas. It's amazing! 50th and 2nd, I think. They are both really close by.

Rain (Asian, 1059 Third Ave) Asia de Cuba (Asian fusion type food, 237 Madison Ave) El Cantinero (Mexican, 86 University Pl ) Brother Jimmy's (southern BBQ, 1644 Third Ave and also at 1485 Second Ave) Cite Grill (steak, chicken, etc., 120 W. 51st Street)

I LOVE Corner Bistro!!! Their burgers are the BEST!!
My (our) all time favorite restaurant in the city is Sevilla in the village - I think its on Charles and Gay streets...They serve Spanish food. Their paella is the BEST!! FH told me when he first took me there that his wife has to know how to make rice the way they do - it is amazing. (I don't know how to make the rice, btw and I'm not going to learn any time soon!)

eroxgirl....I LOVE SEVILLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that place is amazing! I love those potatoe things they serve that you can scoop up the rice with or dip in the sauce.... I always get their shrimp in garlic sauce! yum yum!!! They have AMAZING sangria too!!!!!
ps - Corner Bistro is all the way on the West side on W. 4th Street if I am not mistaken????
