fave place to eat in nyc?

My FH used to live on 49th and 2nd! I love that area... there's a Mexican restaurant called Zarelas on 51st and 2nd which is INCREDIBLE, and next door is a placed called Pescatore, also incredible!! Blockheads is good too, for Mexican. Then you've got Smith & Wollensky on 49th and 3rd for nights that you feel like splurging, and a great chinese place called Chin Chin on 49th a little closer to 2nd. Then there's the BEST diner I've ever been to, called Nations Cafe, on 49th and 1st. They have great breakfast. A little further up 1st ave. in the mid 50's is a great sushi place that has all you can eat sushi for $19.95 one day of the week (REALLY good sushi!!). Whatever you do, STAY AWAY from the Mee Noodle shop and Nicky's pizza. YUCK! Oh, and the best movie theater, Loews at Kips Bay, is only about a 10 minute walk!

Have fun, you will love that part of the city.

Sage, shrimp ajillo and a pitcher of Sangria EVERY SINGLE TIME!! I'm not even a 'food person' but the food at this place...MMMM MMMM YUMMY!!!! And it is so worth the wait to be seated!! (the only downside of the place that I can see)

Now that I'm thinking of it, I have to tell FH to take me there this weekend!

I don't know much above the 20s...but I will tell you my faves...

La Paella - Spanish - on the expensive side, but you can make a nice meal out of a few tapas...9th btw 2&3
Japonica - Sushi - expensive 12th and University

one of my all time fave diners in Lyric...21st and 3rd..fastest service you'll ever see

there's also a REALLY cheap diner - Castillo - on Rivington and Essex (LES) I'm talking $5 for 2 people

sorry i can't help in your area...but if you want to take a venture down these are some good places to go...

also if you see a Tastee D-Lite around...stop in...I love it!!

I will agree with all of the Corner Bistro fans. You can even do some celeb spotting there

And I agree with the Cowgirl Hall of Fame fans.

I also like The Grange Hall on Barrow, Fiamma on Spring St, the Art Bar (yummy appetizers) on 8th between Jane and Horatio, Brother's BBQ on Varick, Le Pescadou on King (I think?)

In Midtown, there are a few Connolly's Pubs and they have good food.

Joe's diner on 6th between 14th and 15th I think is AWESOME!

And Tasti D Lite is outta this world! I am so hungry!!

Oh yeah and there is the cutest little cafe on Hudson near St. Luke's church and gardens called La Petite Abeille. I think they have another one on 18th, too. Good good!

nope,,,I went to a radio mexico next to brooklyn bridge, few blocks form s.s. sea port.

cow girl hall of fame has the biggest baked potatoes. I even have a tank top from the place.
