I have been tossing ideas around for a meaningful favor and I thought that giving a donation in lieu of a traditional favor would be great. I've decided that giving a donation to the ASPCA would be touching and meaningful since I love animals and I like to save animals. I also wanted to include a mini classic whoopie pie from wicked whoopie pies individually wrapped so one for everyone along with the little card for each person that states that a donation was made to the ASPCA. Does this seem ok? I do not want people to leave thinking that I didn't get a sufficient enough favor.

Re: favor idea
I think that is PERFECT! if people have something to say to you about not receiving a physical favor, tell them they have no heart. Besides... who keeps the favors anyway? FH and I went through all this trouble to get a favor for our engagement party that matched our theme... we've yet to see anyone actually USE it AND the one my brother took I just found in PIECES in the back seat of his truck... for the wedding we're doing a donation.

Re: favor idea
I think this is a good idea. I too feel like no one uses or wants any other type of favor given, unless it's some sort of food.

Re: favor idea
I think it's a great idea. I am considering something very similiar as I also love animals. I donate to the organization where the show DogTown is filmed. It's special to us so I figure our guests should appreciate it too.

Re: favor idea
Unless its edible, most people do just shove the favors in a draw some where lol. I think a donation is a thoughtful favor.

I agree... I think you should do what you want because no matter what you do, someone s going to have something to say. That's life.

Re: favor idea
thanks for the compliments..i just love animals and i saved my cat from what seems to be a family who just stopped taking care of him and moved away. he was a stray and he was malnourished and a bit dehydrated but he came to my house completely house broken and gets along fantastically with small children and dogs. the vet said he was most likely someone's cat and they abandoned him. that's why i want to give something to an organization that helps animals all the time and almost everyone knows of the ASPCA.

Re: favor idea
Many brides (including me ) give a donation to a charity in lieu of a favor and it sounds like you are doing both a donation and a yummy favor...guests definitely won't think that it isn't sufficient! It's perfect :)
(P.S. I give to the ASPCA on a monthly basis because I love animals so I think that's a great choice of charity!!!! )

Re: favor idea
I am making a donation to St. Jude. It is a charity that my family always gives too. My opinion is this... 1) this is a good cause that is helping someone other than ourselves and I hope people can understand that. It is a personal way for me to remember my grandmother who always donated each month to St. Jude. 2) Most people will not mind the $5 favor they will never use. 3) For those that will mind and have a problem.. well it's not their wedding. I think it is so thoughtful and kind to make a donation. St. Jude even sends bookmarks with a prayer on them and your wedding date. I'm sure your charity will as well. I vote go for it.!!
