Favor Idea- Need your honest opinion please

So FH and I were brainstorming last night for favor ideas since my current one seems to be more trouble than its worth ( pumpkin soap with a cute soap dish, long story, lol).

We came up with giving each couple a copy of our favorite movie, Love Actually. I'm walking down the aisle to the Glasgow Love theme, my favorite song from the movie too.

I realize that some people may already own a copy but I'd love your thoughts!

I answered that it's dumb - I don't think it's dumb at all though!!! I don't like that poll choice!!!!!

My reasoning - how much is the movie - $10? I think you could get a 'better' favor for $10... I love the pumpkin soap with dish - I think it's adorable.

I just think for $10/favor - you could get something else.


Unlesssss - you wrap it with a cute saying about the movie and how you walked down the aisle to the song, etc. Which is probably what you were planning on doing anyway!

hahahahaha you're too funny! Thanks for responding, I was going to add a note about the movie and I found 36 copies on Amazon for $6!!! I like the soap a lot but the problem is that I have to drive to Atlantic City to pick it up and then cut it myself which i imagine being disasterous. FH said he's help but i picture the two of us sitting there with broken shards of soap everywhere- LOL! Plus there is a lot of work with cellophane and raffia ties involved. And i have 10,00000 other things to do! But i do love the idea.

I voted for Eh...It's OK. That was my gut reaction. Don't get me wrong i LOVE that movie and I do have a copy of it already...but I think you could get a better favor with the pumpkin theme your other favor was for less tha that. But if cost is not an option and your really love this then do it

This also happens to be in my top 5 fave movies...
However, don't love this idea for a wedding favor...it's different, but I think you could get more for your money...

here are some things to think about though

do u think people would mind some of the topics/scenes brought up in the movie?

the quantity - u can get the 36 for $6...but how many guests do u have and can u get more for the same price? are u doing 1 per person/couple or one for every single guest?

do u think a lot of people already own it? we already own it but its because i love the movie, but i dont know how many others do....does that bother you? or do u think ud have a lot of people be like ohhh i already own it?

if u skip it as a favor but still want to use it somehow- if ure doing oot boxes...u can put them in the boxes with the note...it would be cute and ud still get to incorporate it.

I like that movie a lot!!!

I didn't think about the content, but I guess some people might be offended. But there are a lot more young people at our wedding than older folks. And there are no children either. I'm gonna mull this one over a bit

I think you should make a personalized sleeve to put over the dvd case with your names and date.

The only thing im worried about now is that there is one scene where they make a pretend porno in the movie. I dont think the older guests would love that!

Not sure if its tacky to do that now.

60 isn't tooo crazy...so it shouldnt be that hard to find enough.

if your have a generally younger crowd and the remaining older folks arent super old-fashioned...then i would go for it.

i mean honestly its difficult to please every single person...and someone is bound to be like ehhh regardless of the favor.

but i think its a cute idea and more unique and original and if u give a little note with it...i dont think anyone will be like omg.

It's not a typical love story, its actually really sarcastic and funny too and a lot of guys i know like it. I found them for $6 each and I could get away with 1 per couple so that actually makes it cheaper than doing my soap idea which wouldve had to be 1 per guest. Also, I dont have any guys coming by themselves.

I would enjoy getting a movie for a wedding favor. My friend gave out CDs and I was all hyped up about that too!! I like things like that, because it's something I'll actually use rather than just a simple knickknack that kinda sits around before i forget about it. I'm not a HUGE fan of that movie, but I know that I'm like the only one. lol. I think a lot of people would enjoy that film if they give it a chance. And if they don't, they can always re-gift it. haha. Ya can't re-gift a personalized candle, can ya!!

If that's the case I would say go for it. In the favor tag you can put something cute about how this is one of yours and your DH's favorite movie and hope it becomes a favorite for them as well.
Is the scene that bad?

i would like getting a dvd as a favor. but to be honest if i already owned it or didnt like the movie, i would return it somewhere for store credit.
