Favor idea....help!!

Favor idea....help!!

I don't know what to do about favors. I want to do a donation to my FI's firehouse fund for widows and children (they were hit hard on 9/11) but I also want to give something small....I thought about a christmas ornament, but my wedding is in June and what about those who don't celebrate....

SOOO....since FI is Puerto Rican and I am Irish, I thought about a small Bailey's Irish cream and a small Bacardi Puerto Rican rum....is this stupid???

I know his mom 'wants something she can put in the china cabinet' but the only other thing that I really love is a claddagh ornament (I've always loved the history behind it) but that seems unfair, since it is Irish....

here is a link to the claddagh ornament

What do you think??? What should I do?
Sorry so long!

If you both agree on something - it wouldn't be selfish (if you know what I mean). But I like the idea of the little bottles of liquor...very cute way to represent the both of you.

you get the ornament, he gets the donation- both meaningful to you- not selfish.

Re: Favor idea....help!!

My friend is Filipino and his wife is Irish, at their wedding the favors was a little dish wrapped in organza w/a beautiful bow, and they attached a card that said: The 'Luck-of-the-Irish' 4-Leaf Clovers Together with the Good Fortune of the Filipino Gold Coins Create Happiness and Good Health. Today on our wedding day we combine our two cultures and wish you many years of Good Luck & Good Fortune.- So they had chocolate clovers and chocolate coins.

I thought it was a great idea, and it tied their two cultures together. So I think your idea is really cute too!

Keep in mind the mini bottles of rum and Baileys can cost $6 each - if that's an OK price for you then I like that idea but wanted to let you know.

I can't think of anything 'figurine-ish' - but if you go with something else you can always give your FMIL something just for her for her china cabinet. It would be special since it was only bought for her in mind.

What about a CD made up of your favorite songs?
