I figured I should start looking, since the big things are done. First let me say I hate favors. There are so many cheesy things out there that its one big waste of money. Having said that of course I still have to get something. What would you throw out least/ or want most? Thanks.

Why do you feel that you still have to do one - if you feel its cheezy - why would you? A lot of brides don't - a lot of us are doing donations instead.

I thought about doing a donation, and I know my guests wouldn't appreciate it. I know that sounds terrible, but I think the expectation would be that they would receive so kind of favor.

I thought of giving the photo album but decided to go with a full bottle of wine per invite. Something they'll use. Good luck.

i voted for the ice cream scooper - its practical (who doesn't love ice cream) and its a bit different than the traditional picture frame. good luck!

I feel the same way as you. I'll probably go with something everyone can use so I vote for the scoop or the coasters.

I didn't vote because I like 2 of your ideas -
ice cream scoop and bottle opener.

And I hear you on what people are expecting. They just want something to take home - LOL At my shower my 90+ year old aunt took home about 6 favors (she actually asked people for theirs, if they didn't put them away fast enough )

Two ideas: Why don't you do something to bring in Chicago- like pizza cutters?
Give food, cheap and it won't go to waste- or candles.

I voted for picture frame, because you can find a lot of really cute ones, that are not that expensive... How much are you looking to spend on the favor?

I like the food idea also. To be honest, almost every wedding that I or people I know go to usually throw out the favor unless it is immediate family. I am deciding between the following: Gail Watson cakes in NYC, Favored Olive Oil or bread dippers with personalized labels or Blissful Brownies or bottles of wine. I want people to get use out of what I give them.

the flavored olive oil is actually a pretty good idea...they come in really nice bottles with pieces of herbs or veggies in them for color...i like that idea! Especially for an italian family!

That is exactly why we thought of it because we both have big Italian families and it was something that they can continue to use, over and over and be reminded of our marriage and wedding.

I like the ice cream scooper.
I've been thinking about giving 'food'-chocolates or something like that. I figure that so many of our friends and family will be making a long trek back to whereever they are staying--many have already indicated that they will not be staying on long island, that they will probably need a little something to eat on their trip home.
My FH and I both write and draw a lot, so we were also thinking of getting something related to that--notebooks that fit in your pocket with tiny colored pencils. I need to price items though.

I think the Vanderbilt gives out a truffle at the end of the evening to each guest. I was planning on getting little boxes to put them in. That could be your chocalate for the road idea.

I just thought I would share with you what I am doing. It may sound a bit tacky to you guys but it was something we thought everyone could you. We are giving away personalized shot glasses. Filled with M&M's in a small favors box.
