Favorite themes for table names ...
I've been thinking of ideas for table names ... here are some of mine ... please add yours!
favorite wines
places visited
countries of origin
street names in your favorite city
future babies' names
ancestor's names
names of flowers ... then use them as centerpieces ... I saw this one used once it was great!
The royal court ... smaller wedding ... Queen, King, Duke etc ..... which also led me to
Famous Royals ... Queen Anne etc.
Names of chocolates .... chocolate caramel, almond truffle ... then use them as favors for the tables
Words than mean love ... hope, joy, desire, passion etc.
I can't wait to hear your ideas!

When my cousin got married in August she had a 'beach' themed wedding and named all her tables after beaches

Re: Favorite themes for table names ...
Out of the ideas that you have already listed, I like the ones that are more personal to you and your FH. For example:street names in a favorite city
palces visited
favorite wines...
To me, the idea behind this is to give your guests a little peek inside your relationship and help them come to know a little more about why, when and how the wedding day came to be...what created your love for one another? what interests do you share? This is how my hubby and I envisioned our table names. Our relationship was a long distance one, and we chose to name our tables after many of the places we had traveled together.
Of course, nothing says this HAS to be your approach. You could choose something a lot less personal, but still meaningful to one of you. For example, Michele31's hubby is an avid baseball fan. His hobby is visiting different stadiums across the US. Michele wanted to give Scott a part of the wedding that he could personalize himself, and they chose the table names for that purpose. He chose to name the tables after all of the stadiums he has visited so far. He put a lot of hard work into the cards, and it showed. They were beautiful.
Whatever you decide, try to make it your own. It will create such a nice touch to your wedding day.
Good luck!

Re: Favorite themes for table names ...
christmas bride, I agree with Claud, try to personalize your tables. My FI is a huge basketball fan so we are having an NBA theme.
I think our guests will get a kick out of it. Also as in the case of Michelle, I wanted my guy to have a piece of the wedding that was about him, as opposed to me taking over the whole thing.
Good Luck.

Re: Favorite themes for table names ...
Hi...we're starting to think of table names as well. My FH is a HUGE disney fan and orginally we were getting married there but we had to change plans....do you think doing table name with the names of characters (mickey, minny, goofy, etc.) would be too childish? Thanks for your input : )

I got married in Southampton and we named our tables after towns in the Hamptons. West Hampton, Hampton Bays, Watermill, etc.

Re: Favorite themes for table names ...
hey girls ... we're probably going w/ 'love words'! Very romantic! Originally, we were thinking of Christmas related names, but we didn't want to get carried away w/ Christmas. I'm still not sure ... I was also thinking Christmas Carols.I agree that it should be personal ... a way for your guests to 'see inside' your relationship ... as you said.
I was thinking that this thread might inspire someone else to use names instead of numbers. I love thinking of ... and hearing ... all of the ideas that are possible!

Re: Favorite themes for table names ...
You don't have to have table names, it is something people do to personalize the reception a little more. It does not have to fit into the rest of your theme.

Re: Favorite themes for table names ...
What does everyone think of this?We take ballroom dance, and have for a few years. I thought of naming the tables after dances - foxtrot, tango, etc, but FH thinks its a little show off
We looked into things that happened on May 25th (our wedding date) in history. At first I didn't like it, but some really cool stuff happened on that
date. Do you think its too impersonal?

Re: Favorite themes for table names ...
I've also seen a wedding where each table was a different color name and the centerpiece was in the same color. So not only did the guests look for the table name but they just had to look at their centerpiece.I've also seen a variation where they name the tables fruit and each centerpiece has flowers and the namesake fruit in it.

DUB, I was thinking the same thing last week when there was that link to see what happened on your wedding day! Personally, I do not think it is impersonal, but kinda fun! You can write on the cards a little story about what happened and maybe include a picture or something like that.

My FI and I are doing table names too. They'll be names of things that are special to us like 3 of the restaurants we love, the place where we met (HVI) where we're going on our honeymonn (Thailand) places we went on vacations, wine we love that sort of thing.Welcome New Vendors
