Favors

Does anyone else find favors to be the stupiest invention ever?? I know its nice to give a token to guests at a party but.....come on already. I hate the whole thing. Its so conformist and its like if you dont do them, you look cheap. URRRRR

I don't think that they're necessarily stupid - I just wish that we didn't look 'cheap' for not giving them out. We're already spending so much!

if you don't like the idea of favors-or giving a guest a 'thank you' do that thing where you make a donation in leu (that how you spell it? haha) of favors.etc.

just a suggestion.

Plus the favors can be cheap too, little box of chocolate or something...they even have little mints that don't cost too much.

You don't HAVE to do them, but people now expect them.....

I agree..I hate them and I bet my FMIL will want me to give out really ugly guinea ones...Well I'm not doin that..payig $10 or more for them.
I'm going to give out wine bottles :D

yeah- you cant' get a good looking, reasonably priced favor.

that's why I am all about edible favors....people can leave with something in their hands, and my wedding will leave a good taste in their mouths!

I think the hardest thing is finding something useful that won't break your bank. There are a few here and there that I use, but not many.

I agree, and it's not like we don't shell enough money out for people! I throw most (99.9% if they're not edible) favors that I receive at events out in the garbage.

I agree...only edible favors are worth anything. My mom came up with a great idea...we are going to make pink chocolate roses (like lollipops) and attach a note to the 'stem' with ribbon with our charity of choice. Then we will be able to donate the money to a worthwhile cause and our guests will leave with a treat

I couldn't agree more! I will most likely give a minor token, like a piece of chocolate or something - just to say I gave something.

I guess I'm in the minority. I don't think they're 'stupid' or 'garbarge'. I know MANY people LOVE favors. I'm giving them out and will enjoy doing so.

Well since youre such a fan, what do you plan to give?

I hate favors...thats why we are doing a donation...it was the first thing that we planned for our wedding ...I don't care what people say when they come to my wedding and don't get a $3.00 knick knack to take home...if that bothers you so much you have BIGGER issues than not getting a wedding favor...

I will say though that I would have done some sort of edibile favor if we were not going the donation route...

I agree. Who doesn't love food especially something sweet While I find I don't use 99% of the favors that I get at weddings, I do 'use' the favor when I eat it

I am not a fan of favors either... I just don't see the logic behind them.. where did they even begin?!

FH and I are going to do the scratch off lotto tix, this way, I know I am probably blowing my money. And girls and guys can enjoy them, as well as the kids. If they win, great.. if not, well, I guess I won't be as upset if I had taken the time and picked out a knick-knack that would've ended up in the garbage too This way I KNOW the favor will end up in the garbage

I don't think she was trying to sound 'bitchy'...I think she just was curious to what you are going to give out I'm always on the look out for a nice favor... What are you giving to your guests? Is it edible or something else? Share, please

I plan to do lottery ticket favors for the same reason. We will probably do something edible as well.

I'm not the biggest fan of favors either, so FH and I have agreed to do a donation and the jordan almonds and that's all.

I've seen some really nice favors, but they're so expensive...and we really don't have the room in our budget!!
