Favors

Re: Favors

I am not sure what I will be giving out. I am trying to choose something that is useful.
Candy is a good idea. But I'm still unsure.

I just want my guests to have something they can use not just throw it up on a shelf.

I'm not the biggest fan of favors either, so FH and I have agreed to do a donation and the jordan almonds and that's all.

I've seen some really nice favors, but they're so expensive...and we really don't have the room in our budget!!

Exactly.. if I had the money, I would give our guests the world! But unfortunately, such is not the case The last couple of weddings we've gone to have given out edible favors, or have done donations. THe last wedding we went to and got a favor, was two years ago. The bride gave out a cookie cutter with a recipe for sugar cookies! It was fantastic! And useful

Re: Favors

i can't stand favors. i have thrown them all out. or just not taken them at all.

even food ones i rarely eat since i've eaten so much during the wedding and wouldn't eat it the next day.

to each her own. we're doing a donation, and we're NOT giving a lot. we're giving what we can afford, whether it be $50 or $100. there is no set amount to give, and anyone who says $500 should be the minimum obviously has someone else paying for their wedding! i sure don't and find favors a complete waste.

just my honest opinion.

I'm with leighdvm on this one!!

I like giving out favors and I know my guests will appreciate them. I don't think anyone will throw them out. We just ordered ice cream scoops that I think are really cute and certainly useful. Who couldn't use a new one of those?

It's not that my guests are expecting a favor, but I like the fact that they'll be able to have their own lil 'souvenir' from our wedding. But to each his own, it's certainly not a 'must' if you really don't like them.

Does anyone else find favors to be the stupiest invention ever?? I know its nice to give a token to guests at a party but.....come on already. I hate the whole thing. Its so conformist and its like if you dont do them, you look cheap. URRRRR

I am not doing favors, but I disagree with you looking cheap if you don't.

I went to a multi millionaire's wedding yrs ago at Windows on the World ( ) and there were no favors. There were also no favors given at the last 2 weddings I went to. and no one thought it was considered cheap.

FH and I will probably make a donation, but after the wedding when we actually have money

Re: Favors

i am not really a fan of favors. Most people myself included end up tossing them b/c they start to become clutter. I think I am going to donate and have something on the table about that donation. My guests will also leave with their votive candle holder. Who knows? Well see...

I am not a favor fan... I feel if they are not useful they go in the garbage. The only two favors I ever used (that were not food/wine) were an ice-cream scoop and wine stopper. I liked them because they were very practical. ...so cindyandkevin you made a great choice!

I am doing a donation in my fathers memory for MS....If my budget allows, I would like to include some sort of candy...

we don't like favors either , so that's why we are doing the lucky in love lotto scratch offs. You never know someone can be a big winner!!!

I love favors, but that's just me. I do think they can be very stressful to pick out because it does make you think you have to find the perfect one. I also dont think that if you dont give one it will make you look cheap. What about something small like those personalized coffee packs??

Thankfully with Jewish weddings it's not traditional to give out favors, but if I had to I'd make CD's.

If we were doing favors, the coffee packets is what we would do, since we both LOVE coffee!!!! and I think it's really cute how the packets say 'the perfect blend' - very clever!

I guess I'm in the minority. I don't think they're 'stupid' or 'garbarge'. I know MANY people LOVE favors. I'm giving them out and will enjoy doing so.

Well since youre such a fan, what do you plan to give?

'such a fan'? I said I don't think they're garbage and will enjoy giving out favors. If you asked the question without bitchiness, I'd be more than happy to answer.

That was very uncalled for. I, in no way was bitchy, i was being playful and asking for your advice on what youre giving. Ligthen up, its all for fun remember?

Thats what we think we are going to do bc FI and I are HUGE jazz fans and we are thinking of burning copies of Miles Davis' 'KInd of Blue' cd.

Re: Favors

I just noticed that a vendor on here has not only the packets but they come in a mug with a heart shaped scoop! Very cute. I know you said your not doing favors but you can actually make these yourself. BJs sells the coffee packets and you can print the labels up on the computer!

We are giving the Livestrong bracelets as our favors. We really wanted to give money to charity but also wanted our guests to have something. This was the best thing we could think of. We both wear our Livestrong bracelets every day and it has a lot of meaning, especially since John has been cancer free for 7 months.

I kinda feel the same, but i bitched & complained so much about it my FMIL wanted to buy & do them for me.......All i had to do is give her the OK on what I wanted & what not & she did it all.......But the whole thing bugs me.
