I was also thinking about giving pictures as favors. Basically it would work like this in our case:
We are having a red carpet for the arrival of the guests. When they are helped out of their car, before entering the temple, a photographer would take their picture (that way they are all still made up and fresh) and the guests would move on. At the end of the night as they leave, there would be an 8 x 10 picture (of the guest and of us from our wedding day) in a frame, waiting for them. I figured this is something everyone would appreciate. It is similar to what they do on the cruises and theme parks...
I am still trying to figure out how much it would cost. I am between this idea or the bamboo plant.
Let me know what you think ladies.
This is a creative idea for sure but you said it's like a theme park or a cruise and that is precisely why I wouldn't want to have it. It seems too 'gimicky' for me. But that's just my opinion and I do agree people actually might like it so maybe I need to loosen up.
LOL! It totally depends on your clientelle!
Well, it's nothing like a cruise or a theme park , I was just trying to help you understand, lol. It is RED CARPET
Here is a sample of what I am thinking, except it will be in a frame.
We're doing four leaf clover keychains since fiance is Irish

Re: Favors
we had chocolate lollipops shaped like little ice cream cones and they were a hit! (everyone knows my hubby is an ice cream fanatic so it fit our personalities)
we picked different colors ...each about $1 each on ebay!
the chocolate maker can make the chocolate in different shapes to fit your theme.

Re: Favors
DH and I did full size wine bottles as favors- pics are in my album. We got the wine from Cappy's in Valley Stream- then we bought wine bottle size organza bags and favor tags in our wedding colors (white and lavender). It was a big hit and we did one bottle per couple.

I did cookbooks as my favor. We used all the recipes I collected at my bridal shower from our families and friends... a huge hit! People call me all the time to tell me they made someone's recipe for dinner!
THAT is a faboulous idea!!!! I LOVE to cook and bake, and I just may have to add that. :) TY!
I love to cook too.
This is the link to the company we used. http://www.morriscookbooks.com/new/new.asp
thats what we are doing!!! Happy to hear it was a hit, I was having seconds thoughts about doing it , but then posted on here a couple weeks ago and the girls told me not to give up on it!! I'm gonna use that site too, I was amazed at what they sent me when I requested the kit!

Re: Favors
Okay I just found this in my bookmarked pages... from 8 months ago!
As guests said goodnight, they picked up custom-made lanterns complete with lighted tea candles inside. A fleur-de-lis symbol embossed the glass sides of the lantern, and a tag was attached with chocolate satin ribbon stating, 'Let Love Light The Way.'

nice idea but what a bout the people who come alone? having an 8x10 of themselves alone might be a little weird. maybe you could just do the pic of you two.

I thought this was really cute, but I'm not sure how comfortable I would be ordering them online and getting them the day before...what if they don't come?
i am obsessed with those. our hall has a pic of bride/groom choc strawberries on their website and i made sure they would be serving them! (we have full vienesse, so that's the most elaborate dessert package)
i would LOVE to get those as a favor!
Edit: maybe you could pay extra and have your hall make them? then you dont have to worry about shipping, and you know its someone you trust. they might give you a great deal too

Re: Favors
we decided to just go ahead and do something edible because people dont keep most favors anyway....
we are doing 3x3x3 clear plastic boxes with 50 chocolates in each (40 kisses, 10 hugs) and then designed labels for them that say 'hugs and kisses from the new mr & mrs' with our monogram on it. then we wrapped them in wedding paper and ribbon, and will have our place card info on top. they look really pretty and a little different, people will bring them to the tables which will add more color, and people will eat them!
not weird different, but just a little bit of a different twist
