I was in class tonight talking to a friend who is also getting married. We were talking about favors and she said her cousin had them slice the wedding cake (because she got another dessert as well and bought a larger one) and had them put them in decorative boxes for people to take home.
I am planning on having the favor cardholders (the ones you can put pictures or notes on) for seating and candy in the personalized bags. Would it be cheesy to do the cake thing too?
I'm not sure how I feel about it...I want to give people something they would actually use. Not wine stoppers, none of our friends drink wine.
Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: Favors
thats not cheesy at all. if u really want something they will use, they sell measuring spoons shaped in a heart or a cuter pizza cutter that says a slice of love. i was gonna use either one before fh and i said we will donate money to breast cancer.fm me if u want the website.

Re: Favors
i dont really think the wedding cake thing is cheesey, but its also not something i would do..
I just feel like wedding cake is expected at a wedding...not as a favor..

Re: Favors
No I would give them the cake..get a bigger one though..We are having a small wedding about 85 people so I don't want all of the rest to go to waste..I figured a cute box and it could be an additional take home for the guests.
Maybe I will ask them to box it and leave it by the favors with a note for people to take it if they like.
Don't know yet just wanted some feedback

I actually really like that idea. It is good for the ride home or for those back at the hotel room it gives you something to snack on. I think you get so caught up in the celebration you dont get to enjoy the cake at the end. Would you have some put on a table as guest walk out or would you have the rh give to each guest. I know that costco has cute bag or boxes you can personlize on line and they are cheap.

I haven't decided if I want to do it yet..I just didn't want cake to go to waste...I was thinking of putting it on the table with the favors with a note telling them to take one.

Great something else to think about. I was flipping through a catalogue tonight and came across the boxes for the cake. Maybe with the vienese hour being extended to 1 1/2 hours taking home some cake isn't a bad idea. Think the CH will charge more for that?

I so want to do this but my RH said they wouldn't do it, I am doing desert so the cake will not be eaten, I wanted people to take it home since desert and cake is just too much. It's going to be a favor but just an additional thing to take home, such a dilemma don't know what to do. I just hate wasting food.

Ok, I'll be honest, I don't really like that idea. I can see a handful of guests asking where their slice of cake is....especially the older people like my grandmother. - jmo

Re: Favors
when i went to a friends wedding a couple of years ago, she gave mini cakes to all her guests as favors. i really didn't think it was that great of an idea. most favors sit some place in my apartment until FH decides hes seen enough of it & then we put them in a box.i had that piece of cake in my freezer for seriously 2 years.

Re: Favors
it depends on ur guests. i would love wedding cake as a favor cuz im a sweets girl. I like anything edible or drinkable as a favor. But there ar eother nice things people use like the measuring spoons. We got them in april from a friends wedding and totally use them daily since we weight and measure everthing!
