I love the ideas of candy apples or the wine. IMO, very few people are sentimental about other people's weddings that they would save the favor. I don't think my own mom would save a random item.

I actually just talked with FH about favors the other day and gave him a choice of gourmet cupcakes, french macaroons (we LOVe these), or truffles. I would make them and package them.

He loved the idea of home made truffles (maybe three diff flavors) and I love that it's a little personal.

Now time to perfect my chocolate making skills!

Re: FAVORS

i'm actually giving everyone a lotto ticket in a little glassine envelope with a lucky penny inside and sealing it with a monogrammed sticker.

most people never keep the favors that people give at a wedding, so i figured this is something that everyone will love and even have the potential to win some $$$

lol I know...looove them. There is a bakery called Financier by FH and I's workplace and they make such yummy ones....

I'm kinda glad FH didn't say french macaroons because they seem hard to make lol.

FH and I have always made our own hot sauce from scratch. So we've decided to do this for our favors along with a donation to St. Jude Children Hospital.

It sure will make a interesting week of hot sauce making the week before our wedding.

FH and I loveeeeee to cook, so we are doing cookbooks. We are asking people to contribute recipes, and I'll type them all up and go through a publishing company. I'll do one per couple.

I'm doing exactly the same thing!!! The cover is going to be a collage of a bunch of funny pics of me and FH eating. I'm putting a picture of the person you gives me the recipe on the recipe page. FSIL is a graphic designer so she will be hlping me out. I wanted to give something practical that people will use. When I tell people what I am doing I get mixed reviews. I'm so glad I found somebody dong the same thing.
We are also making donations in honor of people who couldn't be at our wedding. The cookbook will also be dedicated to these special individuals.
