before I TOTALLY get Bashed, I understand the sentiment about giving a 'good' favor and come from a similar europearn background where its considered shameful not to give a 'good favor'..
but I would do away with favors all together if it didnt mean my mother would disown me...I think most of them are a waste (except the booze ones )
that being said--- your favor should be based upon your budget--- and what you want to spend..its not obligatory.. people now give donations instead of favors, candy buffets, I have even been to very 'fancy' weddings where no favors were given at all.

So IMO you can certainly go to the 99 store and can find good finds sometimes... you can get for example pretty candles sometimes ... or a simple glass frame.... crate and barrel had cute glass votive holders for 95 the other day.. If you take time to look around you can find stuff for a 1,00.. but like other girls mentioned... you need to get boxes

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE!! I have been to so many weddings and have received so many 'Love Coasters' that I have no idea what to do with them. What you spend on a Favor should be based on your budget. Don't feel obligated to spend a ridiculous amount of money on something that most people toss to the side and forget about unless it's alcohol (which in my opinion is an iffy favor because you don't want to give alcohol to an alcoholic). I love the donation idea and the amount of the donation should be at your discretion. You can find great favors for under $2.00, you just have to research. I got my favors from Wrapwithus.com. They are a wholesaler located in Syosset. They have all types/themes of favors in a variety of price ranges. The other good thing about them is if you live close you can place your order online and pick it up in the store to avoid shipping.

Re: Favors? How much?

i was able to get mine for about $2/favor. but needed to get lil bags, ribbons and still need to get some candy to put in it. so all together it will be probably $4-5/favor and we are doing one per guest.

Re: Favors? How much?

I think we are going to do candy/caramel apples and they are bout $1 each. IMO I'd much rather receive that , something edible, than ANOTHER little frame or something that I'll end up throwing out.

Most people don't remember the favors anyway, so it is possible to find 'cheap' favors. Other people like to spend more and that is fine, but it isn't in our budget to spend $500+ on favors.

best price I found so far was from daffyapples.com.... just the plain ones.... I wanted to check some local farms and stuff in the fall just to see but I don't imagine I'll find them cheaper than that.

Thanks! I have seen them on a lot of sites and they are expensive. That will probably be the cheapest place for you to find them.

Re: Favors? How much?

Don't assume you have to do a favor -- I didn't do one at my wedding, and it wasn't missed at all. I have only received one favor at a wedding, a luggage tag with a silver/colored decoration, and we have never used it and honestly I have no idea where it is (and for a 200 person wedding they must have spent at least $500 on this). I was at a wedding yesterday, no favors, but they did make up little 'to go' bags with some extra wedding cake. One of the classiest, most extravagent weddings I have ever been to did not do favors and no one really seemed to care.
