As long as you're giving out fortune cookies you might as well go ahead with the chinese food take-out boxes.
Mmm, this thread just gave me a craving for some lo mein!!

Re: favors (with pic and poll)
I said #1. Here's why. I am one of those annoying guests that likes to know what my favor is. If you give the clear favor box, you can you see and I don't have to open the box. Plus I think the Chinese take out box is different and you rarely see them at weddings!

i'm just afraid that the take out boxes might look tacky? I'm having these huge rose centerpieces with candles and rose petals -- so i'm worried that the take-out boxes will take away from the elegance?

Re: favors (with pic and poll)
I chose the second one. If the effect you want is a 'cute' one, then I'd go with the chinese take-out food boxes. FH loves chinese food, which is why I was actually considering using that as a favor box myself. Chinese food tends to put an image in people's heads of 'fast & cheap,' and this is why we decided against using them. Although I think they're very cute (and original as a previous poster had mentioned), if 'elegant and classy' is the tone you want to set, I find the second one to be a little more mysterious and delicate.

Re: favors (with pic and poll)
I voted for favor box w. ribbon. But only because you specifically asked which one is more elegant/classy. Also, you don't have an Asian theme so it might seem a bit random (not that everything needs to be matchy matchy)... unless you are putting a note stating your love for Chinese food?

I like the box better than the clear take out box. Just thinks it looks nicer.

I like the first one since you are giving out fortune cookies. It just fits with the cookies. If you where giving out candy I would say go with the second one.

I like the box with ribbon....it's classy and cute...but i voted for that and developed that opinion before reading on...but i think it would be fine since there's no asian theme....if there was, then you would have to do the take out box...IMO

You bring up a good point. A fortune cookie really isn't what one would 'expect' when opening up that box. Is there another type of treat you would consider using that could better complement the fancy box w/ ribbon? I love the packaging of the box and ribbon, but it's incongruent with a fortune cookie.

Re: favors (with pic and poll)
that's a 2.5inch box -- i would def. get candy to fill it...but i need something that isn't too expensive. I have 200 favor boxes to stuff and don't want to spend an enormous amount on filling the box.
Any suggestions???

I agree. If you change the fortune cookie, I might like Number 2 better.

Candy would be fine. The only thing is I would make sure it isn't [all] chocolate, since some people are allergic to chocolate.

I chose #2 because I LOVE how that favor box looks! VERY classy (I'm doing something similar, but with burgundy ribbon, and the labels will be my guests' table cards, too)
