Our wedding is kinda beachy themed so I was looking for something tropical...

One of our ideas is mini Caribbean rum cakes (we ordered a sample and it was delicious!). Another idea, which I prefer, is a packet of margarita mix and maybe a cute glass to go with it.

Problem: my FH reminded me that alot of his fam doesn't drink alcohol. If the mix has non-alcoholic instructions, do you think this is an okay favor (what about if it doesn't?) What do you think of the mini rum cake idea? I don't want to offend anyone.

I would do the mini rum cakes! It might be kinda strange to get a gift that is alcohol related if yo don't drink. The packaging for the rum cakes is adorable!!

Both favors are great!

Have you thought about maybe doing both? Not for each person, but alternate from each table setting/guest? That's just another option

As a guest, I personally would rather receive the drink mix, BUT since you've already decided against it....... Cake will be JUST as good! I don't think I've EVER turned down a peice of cake......and I don't even drink RUM!!!!

cakes! I'd love to get that as a favor. wouldn't personally like the mix.

I don't think anyone would be offended by the rum cakes as long as 1) they aren't passed out to children and 2) no one (that you know of) is in AA or is struggling with alcoholism.

If you even suspect someone could be in that category, you might want to have an alternative at each table, such as chocolates... I don't think the mix would be appropriate in that scenaro either.

I think it's a neat idea to have a coupld different favors in the center of the table (around the centerpiece) so people can choose what they like.

I suspect most people would chose the cake though!

WAIT A SECOND!!!!

RUM CAKE = RUM!!!! Ladies - that rum is NOT cooked in, it is poured in after the cake is already made and it soaks it up. That is straight up alcoholic RUM! Alcohol is alcohol.

I think it's a super cute idea HOWEVER, it is still an alcoholic favor no matter which way you phrase it.

ETA: I need to fully read posts - I am silly - sorry. I have had MANY rum cakes before and they were always full of straight up rum.... It seems the ones you have are not made that way.

As a previous poster had said - someone is going to have something negative to say about something. Go with what would be best for you and your wedding.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the cakes but if you have such wishy washy feelings about it I would look further...
