Feedback on Hotels

Trying to decide on the hotel for the out of town guests. Has anyone stayed at or heard anything about the East End Best Western (Riverhead) or the Hampton Inn Brookhaven? Both places will supply transportation and breakfast. But the Hampton Inn is further away. BW is $169 and the HI is $149. We are having the wedding at the Vineyard Caterers (the northfork). The BW is about 5 miles away the HI is 15-20 miles. If you were a guest and had the free transportation would the distance matter to you? Please help me... vote!

Re: Feedback on Hotels

I just went to a wedding at the vineyard on Friday and we stayed at the Best Western. I definitely recommend the Hampton inn. The best western was definitley not worth the 169 we paid. The room was so small, the bed was tiny, all they had was diet pepsi in the vending machine, the water in the shower was cold and there was no water pressure. Maybe my DH and I are picky, but after our cross country honeymoon and stayong in like 30 different hotels, I think the Best Western was extremely overpriced for what was offered. Oh and the trip from the best western to the vineyard took about 15 minutes. It is not all that close. It definitely felt like more than 5 miles. I Have never stayed in the Hampton Inn out there though. Maybe you should go check out rooms in both places and see which is a nicer atmosphere for your guests.

I am having the same dilema. Our wedding is at Giorgio's and I had to decided between BW or HI. Since FH and I are in CA, my parents took a look at the hotels for us yesterday. I think we're going with the BW since it is closer. Most of the people who are staying there are from Nassau or the city, or people who just don't want to have to drive after the wedding. I feel that if we went with the HI, people are already half way home. I also liked the fact that the BW had a lounge, which HI doesn't have. There is a lot of time between our ceremony and reception, so it gives people a place to hang out and get a drink before heading over to Giorgio's.

Oh and one more thing with the Best Western, the bride and groom had payed extra to have the bar stay open at the hotel for guests to go hang out after the reception. When we got back to the hotel we asked where the bar is and the guy said it was closed. We said no, we're with the wedding and ithey paid you to keep it open and the guy said well, sorry its closed.

So we went to see the Hampton Inn today... I really liked it! Clean, new and polite! The price is better, food seems great for breakfast, pool is indoors, and they will let us rent a meeting room to have an after party if we want! Works for me! Thanks for the imput guys!

Re: Feedback on Hotels

Is there any place close to the Hampton Inn where guests could hang out before taking the shuttle to the reception?

There is an Applebees and a TGI Fridays right next store. Plus the could also hang out at the indoor pool before hand I guess.
