FEEDBACK PLEASE: The Carltun and Oheka Castle

Please post any thoughts, experiences from your wedding or one you attended at the Carltun and Oheka. Prices, service, food etc. Any pics would be wonderful as well.
In particular, I have heard that the cocktail hour at the Carltun is not that good - not enough food. anyone have experience with that?

Thanks!

I have never been to the Oheaka castle but the Carltun is nice, the room is kind of small but that depends on how many guests you are planning on having. I do agree about not enough food at cocktail though.

Good luck and welcome

I thought it was the total opposite.. I've been to 4 weddings at the Carlton and there was always soo much food and it's DELICIOUS.. omg.. I think they put together beautiful receptions there..

My cousin was married at Oheka last year, and the place is just UNREAL.. it's expensive but just driving up the place in itself takes your breath away... The food was ordinary imo.. It really also depends on how many people you have at your weddding too..I'm sure some of hte recent Oheka brides can truly comment, but I remember the room where she had it being really small.. I know my cousin paid a $10,000 site fee and it came out to like 300/head..

Re: FEEDBACK PLEASE: The Carltun and Oheka Castle

I am getting married at Oheka. I have only heard amazing things about the food and service. In fact, this summer I went to a couple of event Oheka hosted and the food was really good.

FI and I think that the Carltun is overrated. We think the decor is nicer than the food. I also remember that the food was cold when I got my entree. I also think it is important to be the only party at a venue. Does Carltun have more than one party going on at once?

However, Oheka is definitely more money. The vendors will end up charging more because of where you are having it. The florist will also cost a fortune (ours is charging $15,000) because the place is so large.

My cousin got married at the Castle. It was amazing! But it was very pricey!

I was deciding between the two of those but ended up going with the Essex house. The one thing that turned me off about the Carltun was that they usually have an afternoon and evening wedding or event. Meaning that you will actually bump into the other parties, which in my opinion stinks. Unless you have 175 people then you can have a twilight event so you make up the hours, but that makes hte ppp cost more. I prefer Oheka and the Essex house becuase the place is truly yours for the day and you get overnight suites. I just think if the difference is not that bad you want to get the most out of your money and places like these can often offer that.

You can FM me for more info.
