Feeding the band...
Anyone ever heard of asking the band to eat at the cocktail hour? This was suggested to me but I'm not sure it's the best idea ... wouldn't they not be happy about that?

I don't think I want my band participating at the cocktail hour....shouldn't they be doing a sound check or warming up or setting up while the cocktail party is in progress????? I will gladly feed them at a more appropriate time . (When I was in school I worked at a catering hall and bands for the evening party were always running late because they had played an afternoon party elsewhere. They would run in and head for the cocktail party before setting up and then would still be setting up while guests were entering the room - on more than one occasion the intros were delayed because of this).
I had a whole table with centerpiece and all set up for them. Remember, not ALL of them will me making music ALL at the same time for the whole night. So, I thought it was great because they could kind of rest and refresh themselves. And, I offered them the same as the rest of the guests.
we are probably having our band members served in the begining with the rest of the guests that way they are eating at teh same time as everyone else - and are ready to start again asap
Very good point - have them fed just before the guests so they are ready to play as soon as the guests have all been served!!
My band offers continuous live music, even during dinner, so Iguess they kind of take shifts to eat. I will be offereing them a meal, but it's a discounted vendor meal. I've heard that vendor meals can be anything from sandwiches to a pasta dish.
my vendors ate in another room on the same floor as us.
I dont know if mine ate but it was paid for lol.
I'm feeding all my vendors. Reception is from 4p.m to 11 p.m. that's a long time for anyone no to eat.
