We will only have to feed our photographer and videographer (at half price). Our DJ eats for free since they are a house vendor.

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
We feed our photogs (2 of them & 1 light assistant) and 8 band members. Since they were the RH preferred vendors, we paid half price

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
It's in my photographers' and wedding planners' contracts that they need to be fed. Our caterer sets up a buffet for the vendors in a room away from the party.

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
We fed our vendors. They were with us for so many hours! I don't like watching other people eat while I can't. If you keep the vendors happy, then (ideally) they will work well.

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
We are feeding out vendors...10 piece band, 2 photographers, videographer...I think that is it.
One band we met, said they are there to work and not eat and they usually dont like catering hall food (because they eat it ALL the time) but come on....these guys have to eat or they will starve!

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
I think its generally safe to assume that you're feeding ALL of the vendors that provide services during the course of the reception. Having said that, in my view, it's also okay to ask them if they 'typically' eat at receptions, if they're working, and to take it from there.
For example, at my wedding, my photogs and DOC indicated that they did not require a meal but just wanted to know if they were not getting a meal - so that they knew what to expect and how to plan for the night.
Nevertheless, we fed all of the them, regardless, because we
all of them and wanted them to eat because they were with us for a long day.

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
OMG! Maybe its me but i think it is rude not to. Most places charge half for vendors anyway. I guess its up to what you feel is the right thing to do.

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
Russo's asks if you want to feed the vendors (DJ or band, Photograper and Video person) but it's extra $- we were under our minimum so they let us include them all in our final count so we're not paying really for them to eat- however if we had to pay for them to eat we would have done so anyhow- some vendors just want CH food but I think it's nice to be able to feed those that are helping to make your day special... also keeps them happy vendors too if you look at it like that...and you know happy vendors are productive vendors (least they should be )

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
We fed all of our vendors, except our officiant. He stayed throughout our cocktail hours (we had it extended) and then he left, but, he was asked to stay for the reception.
Many catering halls will feed the vendors that they recommend for free and any others for half price, you should ask their policy.

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
Our RH is offering 1/2 price meals for our vendors too. My DJ actually told me not to pay for meals for them. He said they're there to work and will be playing music the whole night, they said they want to work, not eat!! I was surprised by that!!

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
It's customary to feed all vendors who will be at your reception (photographer, videographer, dj/band, etc.).
They shouldn't be 'picking' at the CH since they are supposed to be working. Your RH should set up a meal for them outside of your reception room, usually during your dinner hour, so there is no interupption in service.

Re: FEEDING VENDORS
You should absolutely feed your vendors!!! Especially your photographers! Having been a wedding photographer I know what it is like. Food is greatly appreciated. Photographers are with you all day. when are they supposed to eat? If you dont want them pooping out by the middle of the reception you have to give them some food. Most reception places give vendor meals for half price. so check on that... As for cocktail hour, it is usually the one chance a photographer gets to take a 5 min break, rehydrate and grab a quick snack. You have to understand that they are running around all day. sorry to vent a little, but I have been in their shoes and know how exhausting it is.
