My hall charges half price for meals for the vendors. They make a table up for them and are seated away from the guests. You have to let your hall know how many vendors you plan on feeding.

Re: feeding your vendors
You feed your musicians and photographers. They should be discounted though. I am paying half price for the band and the photographer is included because he is a house vendor.
I think they eat outside the room somewhere your bm should be able to tell you that.

Re: feeding your vendors
Your hall will take care of the where part. Usually you pay 1/2 price for the vendors. If they are house vendors most vendors will feed them for free.
I fed my photographer, videographer and DJ

Re: feeding your vendors
This whole thing about feeding your vendors-- I do not understand it. Ok- the photographer I get- he is with you for HOW many hours for the day-- even though my photographer will not be there for the cocktail hour--- can't he eat then? But i really don't want him taking pictures of people eating anyways so that one I'm ok with. The musicians on the other hand is an entirely different story. They are working for 4- 5 hours. I'm not saying don't take a 15 min break- but to have them take a dinner break- and to have to PAY for their dinners!?!??! WHAT?? You are paying them for a service- I how many hours a day do you work- 8-9?? Does your boss pay for your lunch break? If you were only going to work half a day-would you expect to take a lunch break? It's not like they're doing us a favor- we are paying them- why is it ok to sit and have a dinner break- with the wedding fair that I am paying for- when they are only working 5 hours at the most!?!?
Sorry if this offends anyone but I think it's lunacy. A few refreshments in a room outside the reception- maybe some soda & some sort of snack- but by no stretch to I think it is appropriate to have to feed them dinner!!

Re: feeding your vendors
If I recall correctly, you have to feed the photographer, videographer, dj, mc or band.
Also, I believe my reception hall told us if we go with their in-house recommended vendors, they eat for free, otherwise, if we do a vendor that is not recommended by them, we pay half price for them to eat.

although i stated this thread, i AGREE WITH YOU WHOLEHEARTEDLY!!!!!!!
now that i've said that.... i have the slightly unique situation where many of my vendors ARE DOING ME A FAVOR!
my fh sometimes sings with the band... they're playing for FREE. my doc is new at it and is working to build her portfolio... she's also FREE (although she's bringing her husband... long story).
this means that my only TRUE vendors are the photog/video and the shuttle van driver (who will be on-call all day for us)
so i'm feeding the 'free' vendors as part of my thank-you. the other vedors will be at my disposal ALL DAY.
i just wasn't sure how to take care of them all

same here.
Same for me.
Basically you feed the vendors that stay with you all day (photographer(s), DJ(s), DOC, etc...)

Re: feeding your vendors
I agree about not feeding vendors that will not be with you for more than 4-5 hours. For everyone else they should be fed. I don't have any vendors that won't be working a full day.

I completely agree with you! I am feeding my photographer and video because they are with me all day but thats it! I am paying for my own venue and it's my $ not my parents so I am looking at every dollar spent.

Im feeding all my vendors. My hall charges half price for them. I dont have a problem feeding them though especially those that have been with me all day which is basically all my vendors except for the DJ and Photobooth Attendent. We have already spent so much money on this wedding that honestly it isnt going to make a difference lol

I was feeding everyone except DJ and MC. My cocktail hour doesn't start until 8pm. They can eat before IMO

feeding your vendors
My dad who is a video photog in the wedding business said its pretty standard that all of the vendors are fed, so I am feeding them all. My hall has a special price for vendors which is about a quater of what I am paying per head
