Feeling a bit melancholy

You won't notice it by my wedding date under my screenname, but 3/15/14 was our original date. So here it is, exactly 1 year from the date, and I'm feeling a bit sad.

We're still getting married, but money issues got in the way, and we had to postpone all plans. I've decided to grab the situation by the balls and take over the finances and see how much we can sock away. We are combining checking accounts, and I'll be taking over all of the bills to make sure they're paid on time. I love him, but he's a terrible money manager, and honestly, I'm sick and tired of bailing him out all the time. He wonders why I'm hesitant to make any concrete plans and commit to spending money in the future when I'm not sure it'll be there.

That being said, I went ahead and paid for my gown in full last weekend, even though we don't have a new date. I needed to do something for myself, and I went ahead and did it. I don't have a pic to show you guys, but I went to DB on 6th Ave in the city, and bought CKP421 (Oleg Cassini 1 shoulder tulle gown). It arrives in June. When it comes, it'll just hang in my closet in the garment bag until we're ready again.

That's a beautiful dress. I'm sorry you're going through this but good for you taking matters into your own hands. When the time is right you'll get to wear that gorgeous dressm just remember that.

The dress is beautiful. I'm sorry that you have to postpone and the money issues. That's one of my biggest fears. I'm very crazy when it comes to money. I lost out on alot of vacations and stuff because I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to afford it. Honestly I never been on vacation once in my life except to a free weekend in the hamptons and going to great adventure in NJ. Lol. Yea sad I know but I always freak out. I give you alot of credit for taking matters into your hands and doing what you have to to be comfortable and have a wedding of your dreams and start your life comfortably. I just paid off 3 bills I had with wedding fund money just so I can save more a month. Yea I lost out on that money I saved but in the long run it will help me save more.

I love your dress, the one strap is so classy and beautiful. Listen, FH had never managed his own money or lived on his own before me and I grabbed our situation by the you know what as well! if you need advice budgeting please feel free to FM me. In the past year I've eliminated all of our debt (with the except of student loans) and we are on a tight budget but we're on track and that's all that matters. always play it safe than sorry and food shopping rather than eating out is your best friend! let me know if you need help :) I don't need to know anything personal but I could sent you a sample spread sheet on how to do everything weekly and we swear by it!
