Feeling a little sad...

Original post by Sandradv121

So, FH just called me and said that the workout that I am doing is not working. I couldn't believe what he said to me. I thought I was looking very good, and apparently, he thinks otherwise. I feel like crying. He was trying to be sincere about it, but can you be sincere about something like that? I'm not saying what he said was right, and I think the wording was very harsh, but I think he was more or less telling me that maybe all the hard work I am doing is not working. He offered to hire me a trainer. I just wish that something nicer would have came out of his mouth. Between the wedding, dieting, working out and stress with work, my mental status is totally taking a beating. I really didn't think i looked bad. I mean, I eat extremely healthy, I work out like an hour to an hour and a half every day. I thought my hard work was paying off, and apparently it isn't.

I'm sorry, I just needed to vent. I just wanna cry, but I can't b/c I am working. Its something so stupid to be upset about, but it ***** that it had to come out of his mouth. I even turned red when he told me.
I'm just feel really embarrassed about this whole thing

..... you better train him before you marry him girl! i have no words for it... if i knew you as a personal friend, i would tell you what i really think about that...

that's exactly what i was thinking.....my FH can be brutally honest sometimes and I think its bc he didn't grow up with any women in the house but if he ever told me that he would be sleeping on the couch for a long time.

i've seen your pics too and you look amazing, i would kill for your body. if your fh doesn't appreciate you the way you are then you need to have a serious talk with him....and i am gonna leave it at that.

i agree... if thats really how he said it to you and not being exaggerated like how us women tend to do, then theres some bigger issues there that make me a bit worried for ya

Just want to add in to what i said before (i am still thinking about this and i really feel your pain here), I also had weight issues and dieting issues growing up, bad issues...It took me a long time to get over (FH actually helped me through it and called me out on them all...) so Shawn understands that he cant say much about my weight...He knows that if i feel i need to work out he will support me with whatever decision I make, as long as its healthy....But he doesnt flat out say, oh your abs arent washboard anymore you need to work out, he says that if i am comfortable in my own skin then thats all that matters...
Your FH should understand what you went through...Bc going through all of the weight stuff, ISNT fun its hard and takes it toll on your body...Please talk to him about all this, he needs to understand this now bc if he doesnt, what is going to happen after you have a child or two...You body isnt going to always be perfect after children, it happens to all women....

I'm am soooooooo sorry about that. I think you need to have a serious talk with FH and tell him how you feel. I would be furious if my FH told me that.

I have news for you. The thing about guys is that they're idiots lol. They say these things and they really have no idea that they are stupid remarks. You look fantastic. Tell him he hurt your feelings. Talk to him about it. If you need a trainer than I certainly need a gastric bypass because you look fantastic! Keep doing what you're doing and say no thanks to the trainer...

FH has always been that way; crass, openly honest etc. Thats exactly how it was said to me. And thats why it affected me the way it did.

But please don't think he is getting away with this in anyway. There will be a very long talk about why he will never speak to me like that again. And he WILL be paying for the trainer. AND his mother will know what was said to me. Thats very bad news for him.

My mood is going from Sad to mad at him. I think it was the fact that I was so shocked at what he said. He really needs to know what he did was very wrong.

Once again, thank you all for the support. You have no idea how amazing you all are.

God. You must be a mind reader. What is he going to say when I get pregnant? I will be eating for two...

No, this will have to be resolved this evening. Even if he didn't know how to word it right, it should never had been said. Support is one thing, like if he said, 'babe, your butt is starting to look good with the workout you're doing, but you should try this workout to change it up' . But making comments like that is not acceptable.

The part that pisses me off the most is that all this time, I have been supportive towards him. I have encouraged him to try harder, rubbed his stupid shoulders after he did a Big workout, and told him how good he looks without lying. All of a sudden, its ok to comment on my appearance like a douche bag?

No he's not getting out of this. Mark my words. I swear to you.

Re: Feeling a little sad...

1. You are gorgeous.

I also struggle with my weight (and right now, the weight is winning!) I REALLY struggle. Working out isn't really an option for me, and man, I like food, and I hate depriving myself. So I'm struggling because I know I have to lose weight, and I'm just not motivated yet.

My FH tries to be supportive, too, but sometimes he can say stuff without thinking. Most men can. My trick is to sit him down as soon as I can and tell him he hurt my feelings. He makes little comments about my gaining weight here and there, but if something strikes a nerve, even if I'm being irrational, I tell him... Once he realizes he hurt me.. We work it out.

My advice would echo other girls: Sit him down, and TALK to him. You owe it to yourself. Don't try to spite him, just be honest and take it from there. If you still don't like what he says OR he still continues to hurt your feelings, that will be a different story.

Whenever one my good friends talks about an issue with their husbands, etc. I always ask this question:

Can you live like this? Forever?

We only know one side of the story, and this will probably all blow over so we're all thinking of you.

I have learned and it seems like you are learning now, that when you ask a man for an honest opinion...they will give you an honest, out right one. They rarely think about being sensitive. I would not get bent out of shape about this. Keep doing what you are doing. You look great!

sorry to crash but i have to....this really upset me...

i am in no ways skinny or a supermodel...my fh has never or would ever say something like that to me..and its not about boys being stupid or too honest..

please talk 2 u r fh..remind him why he propsed..not just because u r beautiful(and might i add u r a beautiful girl)but because he wants to be with u no matter what..NO MATTER WHAT...10 lbs lighter heavier..should not matter...true love sees right through it...
i hope u feel better and talk 2 ur fh..this is a post a soon to be married lady or any lady should never ever have to write

sorry to crash too, but I agree.

I just looked at your pics: i don't think you can lose any more weight! you look perfect to me, you're gorgeous!!
Don't take him up on the trainer!! continue doing what you're doing FOR YOU, not for him. Do it because it makes you healthy, not because it makes him happy.
he needs a slap upside his head girl!!!

I just read through all of these posts. And I agree 150%. And I know this sounds harsh, but I really want to slap your FH. You look AMAZING!

I don't think there is any excuse for what he said. My FH always tells me 'I have the most beautiful bride in the world.' It doesn't matter if I'm sick or feeling fat or gained 10 lbs. I tell him 'Well what if I get to be 200lbs?' And he says, 'Nah. Maybe 400lbs. That might be the deal breaker.'

Your FH should make you feel like the most beautiful, sexy and hottest woman on the planet. You deserve that.

Just my two cents. Sorry if I offend.
