Feeling depressed about wedding planning...

Feeling depressed about wedding planning...

Gosh, I had no idea it would be this hard...

-My only bridesmaid is going on a cruise for spring break and has no money or time to get fitted for her dress or get accessories...

-FMIL hasn't given me the addresses of her guests for the reception, so I have no idea what my final count will be or where to send my invitations

-my mother will most likely be scheduled for surgery early may and may not fully recover in time for the wedding

-FH hasn't picked his Best man yet... one minute he says his father, next minute he says his firefighter friend

-Still haven't found a full-time job (I've temp'd for a couple of places, but nothing permanent yet)

-I have deposits due everywhere this month

-Officiant doesn't return my phone calls and we haven't settled on the ceremony structure (officiant keeps putting it off)

There are a million other things going on at once. I'm getting depressed because the people that I'm counting on the most are either going through their own personal situations (which I completely understand), but this is NOT how I thought it would be last year when we started planning this wedding.

Just needed to vent. I hope that everything starts fixing itself as time passes by.

I am so sorry. I can't believe all this is going on all at the same time! You have every reason to be upset, worried, depressed...you name it. I know it is easy for me to say, but try not to worry. I am sure that everything will work out as planned and you will have a beautiful wedding!

Well you can only do so much but on the other hand some people are taking liberties. I would give FH and FMIL 5 days to make a decision and get addresses or no invites on her side. Period. As for the officiant be more aggressive. Have you given him/her a deposit yet. If not say that you must meet within the next 7 days as your printer needs the outline for the programs (whether you are doing them or not).

As for you MOH, she made a commitment to you. Was this before or after she booked the cruise? I would ask her if she can still fufill her responsibilities as your MOH.

I don't know your situation but you might be cutting people too much slack.

Good luck.

Thank you for your comments

I had no idea I would have to face all of this. Everything is happening all at once. Getting a job, planning the wedding, helping my mother sort her medical problems out, monitoring my vendors and maids, etc.

FH says I've been cutting too much slack to my MOH and only bridesmaid. I guess I have, but I wanted to be considerate and ask them what they thought of the dresses they will wear, instead of having them criticizing me on my wedding day over my choice.

I know FH and my mother have tried to help me cope, but no one really understands how much pressure and how many details I have to juggle better than fellow brides. Thanks again for allowing me to vent!

Oh hun, Im so sorry. My wedding is the day after yours and I am having very similar problems, especially the FMIL with the guest list. Everything revolves aroung the guest list. Since she contributed some $$ I told her to invita ANYONE she wants, just let me know who they are with an address.... I'm STILL waiting... My invitations will be in any day and the calligrapher will have trouble with addresses if I dont know them! UGH!! Good Luck!

I have discovered (sometimes rudely) that wedding planning is not for the faint of heart. My gosh it's a lot to keep up with. And the people closest to us are often the most uncooperative.

Hang in there honey.

I have to agree with Katherine 110%! This is so true and something that us brides-to-be find out the hard way. Try to keep it all in perspective and focus on the 'prize'...you will marry your best friend. Be strong and don't worry too much about being super considerate since it seems that the same is not returned to you. It will be worth it!

So sorry you're having such a hard time. If it makes you feel better one of my own BM's won't even return my phone calls. I have left plenty of messages to just talk to her but I she still hasn't called me back. IT'S BEEN OVER A MONTH ALREADY!!!!!!!
