Feeling kinda depressed

So even though my shower is supposed to be a surprise I know some details about it. I was asking FH about the guest list and people's responses and he tells me that most of his side is saying no! I know if I use the word 'white-trash' to describe them some of you will think 'wow what a b itch' but if you knew them and witnessed some of the things I've seen I think you would all agree. But I've always been very nice and friendly with them all whenever I see them.

So now I feel like this is a slap in the face for me. And they don't have any good excuses like being on vacation or previous engagements, just 'No'. I just feel so aggrivated over this. And then I think of my mom who's trying so hard to make this shower perfect for me and these people have the nerve to not even show up?!?! Nor did they respond, my aunt had to call FH's mom to find out what was going on with her side of the family b/c no one even bothered to call.

Needless to say these are the same people who have yet to repsond for the wedding. Although one said no so Im assuming the rest will probably follow. Whatever.

i'm so sorry to hear that! at least you have the support and love of your own family and that's the most important thing!

I think I am going to have the same problem - I know most of his family isn't coming to the e party because traveling from jersey is too much??!!?? Even though my family from Staten Island ... who aren't even first aunt and uncles are coming - so sorry you are experiencing the same thing

Screw them- you can have fun with your family and still have a good time. I wouldn't let it bring me down.

Oh no sweetie, I'm so sorry to hear that. That's so horrible and hurtful at the same time. As long as you have your mother and your family, that's all that matters. Honey, don't let that side aggravate you bc it's so not worth it. Don't give none of them the benefit of the doubt. It's their lost - not yours. Keep your head up! You're way to beautiful to be depressed.

I am so sorry for you!! You will be surrounded by your family and friends, and you will still have a good time....like someone else said 'screw them'....I agree...

I feel your pain. I too am dealing with FH 'White Trash Family'. I too hate using that term b/c some think its so F'd Up but its true. I hate that his family wont be coming to things but in the same way I am happy. I happy b/c they wont ruin things. I am scared they will show up in jeans and get all wasted and make a joke of my day. All you really need is your friends and family!

If that was me then I would do the same in return when it came time for them. Don't go out of your way for any of those people. When the shower is over have a talk with your FMIL and ask her what the problem is.

well my in-laws all came to both my shower and wedding and i got the most gifts from them.. oh wait no i'm mistaking i didnt get a penny from them. and they all brought a whole bunch of friends to my wedding i had to pay extra at the end of the night.

just remember its your shower so dont let it bother you have fun your there with the people who truly care for you. forget the others.

I wouldn't be depressed. I rather have ppl at my shower that I'm happy to see and that i know are happy for me! I would actually feel happier knowing that they weren't there.
On my shower, I don't want to have to think that they're sitting there and criticizing what's going on and secretely laughing or mocking me or friends and family at the shower.
