Feeling Overwhelmed
Lately, I've been feeling completely out of control about EVERYTHING.
Work: we just lost yet another attorney. I got half his cases. I already had my own full case load, and half the cases from another person that left. Problem with the new cases, is that attorney was sooooo disorganized he doesn't have files for everything, and I've been running into court without files and without ever having met the client!
We have also been working without a contract since 1/1/05. No raise since 7/1/04, and staff has been cut so severely I'm working without a secretary.
The courts are so clogged they started hearing cases at 8:30 AM - a full hour early, yet I don't get out of work a full hour early on court days!!!!!!!!!
Home: as you may have read in the last few weeks, my 25 year old nephew was clinically diagnosed with Huntington's Disease. It is uncurable, results in death, and destroys the body one muscle at a time as the brain deteriorates. There is absolutely, positively nothing we can do. Talk about out of control and feeling helpless.![]()
My MOH/sister is also flipping out the family by suggesting she is quitting her very well paying job to be a stay at home mom - not that there is anything wrong with that if your hubby can support the family. Problem is - her's can't! She worked very hard for her multiple degrees, and now she is threatening to just throw it all the way. It's creating a lot of tension.
Wedding: How on earth am I going to pay for this?? I know I have it budgeted. I know that I have an automatic transfer set up so that I am saving the right amount of money each paycheck. FH on the other hand, just can't seem to get it together, and keeps telling me it will all work out. The guest list has kids on it - which I don't want, but FH won't budge - he thinks it's wrong to exclude them, and thinks it's wrong for us to attempt to parent other people's kids by excluding them from our evening wedding.
We just finished argument number 6 over the honeymoon. I don't want to pay $800 per person for airfare, and I don't want to fly out of Newark, but he thinks the only way to get cheap airfare is to fly out of NJ.
I wanted the STD's in the mail before the postage increase. Didn't happen, and now after driving around all weekend I can't find a post office that has the old 60 cent stamps and 3 cent stamps. One guy at one post office suggested I spend 78 cents each to mail them out!! It is such a scam. They raise the postage price, then they don't have the proper stamps available to force people to spend more money than is actually required!! I knew the 63 cent stamps weren't yet available - but come on - 5 post offices and not one could sell me 63 cents without having it metered!!!!!!!!! I don't need the post office for metered postage - I can do that at work!
Okay, pity party over. Thanks for reading.
