I’m usually not one to post about my issues, but I’m hoping just getting things off my chest will make me feel better.
It really hit me yesterday how lonely I feel living in LI. I have been out here now for about a year and a half, but after having an emotional day at work, (whole other story, maybe I'll post again later) all I wanted was to go home and be alone, or have an impromptu wine night at home w/ my closet friends, just like I used to when I lived alone in Brooklyn. I was able to have neither. DH decided to not go to the gym since I wasn’t going , so there was no time be had alone at home, so instead I drove around to clear my head, but it’s still not the same. I know what I really wanted was to just have my girls come over and have our usual wine and dancing fest, where we make complete fools of ourselves, and forget that there are any problems in our universe. And although we may be quite hungover the next day, the world is once again a happy place to exist. I miss those days
Anyone ever feel like that since living with DH/FH? He is my absolute best friend, but there are days when I just need my girls.
Thanks for reading, pity party over.

Awe! Yeah I do miss nights with the girls!!! Maybe you guys can plan something on a weekend for meeting up in the near future. I know it's not the same as an impromptu thing but at least you will be able to see them. Good luck!

I'm sorry you are feeling sad
I feel that way sometimes...while I'm not completely living with FH or moved to LI yet I do spend a great deal of my time there. I've made a commitment to make time with my girls. Most of my girls are married and with kids, but we have a girls day or night at least every 3 months. It's hard with schedules but we make that time.
There is nothing wrong with wanting time with your girls.

Re: feeling sad
I have been with FH so long 7 years now and have basically lived together through all of them that I am just used to having him around. I have my girlfriends but he is my best friend and is the one that makes me feel better. Maybe you can start a new therapy with him for help? Maybe the two of you can play a silly board game...FH and I play scrabble or skipbo sometimes....Change is hard and it must be difficult not to do the same things you used to with the girls...but I think that happens in life especially when you are going to get married. I'm not saying to lose that aspect but it may have to change a bit....

Re: feeling sad
I understand how you feel. I have the best time when i am with fh and he is my best friend. BUT you do need time for yourself with your girls, i think its healthy for a relationship plus you do have friends and not right to not make time for them. I think its important to have your time with fh, and also have a bit of a social life too. 30 years of just spending time with eachother is not as exciting
call your girls and find a way to make it work. Maybe you can go to brooklyn or they can come to you. I know sometimes it seems far but its not a big deal. Call now or send a mass email and plan something fun. Or maybe you all can meet at a halfway point, meet in the city for drinks

Re: feeling sad
I also miss parts of the independance of hanging with the girls whenever , but most of us are either married or engaged or are in serious relationships over the pst few years and don't see each other nearly as much as we used to and i MISS them!
I recently moved to Queens ( about 6 months ago ) and I see them even less ( you would think it was guam the way I feel isolated ) .
I think it is SO important to make time to chill with the girls that I made it a point to have a gtg with them this month. You might want to try that too

aww sorry to hear I can completely relate- it was even harder for me when I moved out of state temporary with FH- i left all my family & friends behind big- big adjustment i moved back anyway I understand what you mean when you just want to hang with the girls and do silly things I had my best friend and sis over for Easter when they started to leave I said to there DH's can they stay a little longer guess they bring out the giddy little girl in me... can you set a date to hang with your friends I know it wont be as frequent as it use to be but why don't you initiate a gathering I wish I lived in LI I would hang with you

Re: feeling sad
I feel like that here in philly. We moved here not knowing anyone...and no one from work really does the hanging out thing. All of our friends and family are in NY and central/north NJ, so it's a drive to just to see people.
I don't mind just having FH around...but sometimes when he works night shift, I have nothing to do...I just sit around.
We're contemplating moving to jersey or NY after the baby because we're getting homesick. 5 years is a long time to be away from NYC!

Thank you so much everyone!!! It's funny, I emailed on of my MOH's what I posted, so now we've been emailing about how much we both miss those days - she lived 2 blocks away from me, so they happened pretty often.
It's also good to hear that I'm not the only one feeling like this. You would think after a year and half of living together I'd have gotten used to it. It's also one thing for us to all meet for happy hour, which we try to do at least 3 times a month, but we have the most fun when we're at one of our places making complete a$$es of ourselves. It's been a long time since one of those nights, I think it's time to plan another one.

I'm sorry....I am going through the same thing sort of. I moved out of the city last year to live with FH and while I love living with him, I dont have a whole lot of friends nearby that I can just do things like that with.

plan something at someones house then. Its good bc it seems far but really isnt when you think about it, still in the same state and easy to get to.

Re: feeling sad
I can relate to that... I'm moving there in a few weeks and dread having to make friends again... but I know I'll be miserable without having any girlfriends. I don't live with FH yet but I do know that I'm never fully engeregized without being able to goof off with my girls. I hope that you can plan a get together soon!!

Re: feeling sad
Don't feel sad, Tina. I can also relate. I used to have a really really close friend for liek 6 years. We did everything together, whether it was going shopping, going to bars, or just, 'hey I'm running up to taco bell, you want to come?' EVERYTHING. We had a falling out of a STUPID guy. All b/c she asked what I thought of him, and I had a lapse in judgement and TOLD her that I didn't like him! Anyhow, despite me attempting so many times to fix things, she hasn't be interested in reconciling. I don't really think I was wrong, but I even apologized and tried to fix things... to no avail. That was almost three years ago. I tried to make contact when I got engaged, not to rehash, but, 'lets just forget about it and move on...' She is stubborn. She just got engaged last week, and if FH knew that I sent her a card, he'd be so angry with me b/c he thinks I let ppl walk all over me. So, although I have other friends, I just haven't found that one best friend to do all of these things with, and I'm not sure that I ever will. The bottom line is, I know what its like to feel friend-lonely! I'm with you if you ever want to vent, or drink wine locally!
