fees, gratuities and other charges

fees, gratuities and other charges

What are the fees and stuff that each vendor adds to their prices. And if they're mandatory fees, why don't they just put that in the price to begin with? Getting frustrated and confused.
Who charges what fee, and how much are those fees (% or $?). Feel like I'm being given the run around. What are the last second add ons that they charge at the time you sign the contract? Please help before I lose my mind.

i believe the RH will add on any where from 18% to 20% gratuity in addition to the NY state tax.. as far as other tips, that is not included in your contract but usually is expected, (DJ, Photog, etc). I feel like i'm gonna have to get 1,000-1,500 in cash the day of just for these tips!

besides the gratuities in the contract they wil charge you a tip of $3-7 pp for the MD. I was charge the 'tip' the night b4..I mean give me a break I should pay after the wedding and depending on the service it will depend on how much I give them...in my case they turned out great...lucky for my reception. Same goes for limo's they charge you a 'tip' but you still are expected to tip. If your reception did not mention, they charge for you and your FH's plate...I mean give the bride and groom a deal...what can you do. I just promise furture brides and grooms that if I ever own a catering hall...all brides and grooms will not be charged

for RH, I'm being told that it must all be paid ahead of time... if it's grat, can't you just give it to the waitstaff that evening? Not trying to sound cheap, but I've been dinged before with limos...20% grat charge, and the driver never saw it, so we had to tip ANOTHER 20% - Basicallyy 40%

our rh has a 20% service charge plus ny state tax

aside from that i dont think any vendors add a mandatory service charge...but you will def need 1-2k for tips the day of the wedding!

WHAT?! This stuff is getting crazy. I agree...tip is for appreciation of work. You have to tip the MD twice? I like to tip well, but I don't want to get screwed by it. It just feels like if they're charging you that much ahead of time, you don't have much left for tipping, and if you don't give good tips that night, the people don't want to give you as good service. ...Ugh. I usually like to do about 10-20% tip, depending on the vendor.
The few RHs I've called never mentioned the B&G plates...they just ask how many people we're expecting. ..Excellent heads up on that one! Thank you.

Do you know what percentages other vendors charge? Or who charges tax?
Hair, makeup, photo, video? I've looked at websites, but haven't really spoken yet.

The way my RH described it was like this...the 20% is not a gratuity it's the service charge. If you want to tip the MD you would do $3-$7 a head. The 20% goes to waitstaff, laundry service, valet parking...all those things.
