Feliway for cats?

Has anyone heard of this product and/or used it??

I am moving my kitty from my moms house (where I used to live pre-wedding) to my new house but i dont want my kitty to be traumatized by the new environment.

A friend told me about this product called Feliway that is supposed to emit pheromones of a momma cat to create a calmning environment.

Before I go to Petco and get this for $32, I wanted to see if anyone knows if this relaly works??

TIA

Re: Feliway for cats?

never heard of that.

Here is something else you want to try. Bring a blanket and some of his toys to your new apt and rub them into the new carpeting, couch, just something to get the new apt smell on to it. Bring it to the cat and let the cat smell it. Also (don't laugh, but this helps too). Bottle some of the water in your new apt and bring it to the cat in his old apt. Let him use it for drinking water. Sometimes the taste of the water is a bit different and can upset their stomachs.

good luck!!!

I have heard of it, but I thought it was used to keep cats from urinating on the carpeting and stuff.
I would just make sure you have some familiar things with you, like a sweatshirt of yours that has familiar scents on it. Don't worry too much, I am sure your kitty will adjust well!

I think the other girls are giving good advice. Definitely bring some 'old' belongings and kitty should be just fine after a day of adjusting. Feliway is teh stuff used to keep cats from urinating on whatever you spray it on....
I just moved last week and my cats FREAKED for the first day. They are both kind of large and they somehow managed to BOTH cram themselves into one cat carrier (which normally I have to shove them in kicking and screaming) to hide. I really wish I had a picture of them stuffed in there.

Good news is, one week later and they are there normal fat, happy, playful selves....
