Fell bad for FI

Fell bad for FI

Tonight FI asks me if there's any plans for Father's day. I said no. My father lives out of state. he wanted to something special for his dad. He calls his mom to see if his dad has plans. He does, he's going to a baseball game...with Fh brother!! This is the first time FI heard about it. He won't be able to spend time with his dad on father's day. He's upset at his brother for not including him. he told his mom that dad has 2 sons. He's a little surprised ate his dad, he thinks his dad knows that he won't be there. I feel sad for him.I wish I could spend the day with my dad, I have to settle with just a phone call. As I right this, my eyes well up in tears. I just think what his brother did is just so wrong.

Do something special w/ your fi that day... maybe see if his dad can do dinner the night before. Honestly- some people just don't think (FI Brother was inconsiderate)

That is sad.. sorry..

But think of it like we do. Father's day is a day to celebrate all the good things Dads are good for and the relationship you have. Father's Day is also a moving target given to the 3rd Sunday of June (no real date like Birthdays and such). With that in mind, nothing to keep your FH from taking your dad out on his own another day.

My dad was Navy.. we NEVER saw him on Father's Day. Got used to it.. Father's day was a random day we (the kids) chose for him. Even now as adults we pick my Dads father's and make it our own. So Dad gets two. Ronie's Father's Day and Oscar's Father's Day. Occassionally he gets another called just Father's Day (which is all of us).

You don't need a 'day' to celebrate Dad. Im extra close to mine. His brother (my uncle) died just two days before father's day last year. It rocked the family and totally upset father's day for my grandpa. So my dad gave him a Armando Father's Day.. really cheered him up. (so we thought) Good thing too.... my grandfather died just two months after his son. My father got to have a Father's day with my grandpa before he died regardless of the date on the calendar.

Life's too short to bicker about who took dad out on what day. JMHO

That's a pretty $hitty way to find out his father has plans with his brother. It is quite possible his brother could only get his hands on two tickets but he should have told your FH so he didnt have to find out like this.

You can always take him out on Saturday night or one night during the week.

I agree with you all are saying. Probably to my FI, the day is for spending time with the dads/sons. I wanted to talk about it with him, but he didn't feel like talking about it. It just makes me sad a little. SInce I can't be with my dad(I see him maybe 2x's a year) and FI can't be with his. Maybe he'll try to see him when he comes home from the ballgame.

I feel the same way about mother's day - it's always my mom, sister and me. I would be really hurt if my sister & mother made plans without me.

In my other post I was trying to give your FBIL the benefit of the doubt about having 2 tickets - but how ever it went down, I think someone should have told your FH.

Thanks. FBIL is nice but I sometimes don't understand some things thathe does. I'll try to do something with FI to make him feel better. Its wierd, since I heard this, I feel sad.

My feelings would be hurt too if I was left out! A hug for your FH At least the two of you can have a nice day together! I'm sure you'll have his mind off of it in no time.

Tell him not to feel bad. Sometimes my son's mother doesn't let me see my son on Fathers day. It destroys me inside. I'm not sure if i'm seeing him this upcoming one.
