Fellow Jewish Brides

Fellow Jewish Brides

Where are you getting your breaking glass and pouch from?

I want a big loud sound - I have been told that using a light bulb to stomp on during the ceremony makes a loud sound and no one would ever know the difference.

Here i my fear and its a silly one - My parents told me they blame the glass for their divorce - they tried to make my dad break a shot glass on grass at his wedding and it wouldn't break (obviously my parents were retarded)...now obviously I know thats not why they are divorced - but I cant get those thoughts out of my head.

SO I NEED A GLASS I KNOW WILL SMASH TO SMITHEREENS!

Suggestions?

I, too, heard the lightbulb is loud and can work, but any other regular glass could shatter through the pouch and hurt someone. Our Rabbi said any local Judaica store has them, and that they come w special 'glass' that you can then put inside a Mezzuzah. It can become a keepsake, which is nice.

I don't know if your Rabbi will care, but my Reform Rabbi was very explicit that we can NOT use a lightbulb. She got kinda pissy about it. My parents used a lightbulb and they had a great marriage. [shrug]
